We've had a rough start, but the season is young, remember how we caught fire last season, we can do that again.

    De Manc is dead right.

Our players pass the ball across and forwad and backards and do so in a slow prredictable pattern that is eassy to deal with.

In contrast everytime United attack (not just today, but generally) they have pace, they have runners, they have good crossers and hungry eager forwards.

SAF will drop a player or two and teh guy coming in won't dare show attitude.

Our subs regulars just have a resigned look of "maybe I'll get 15 minutes if I'm lucky" on their faces.

It was obvious that young RAmsey was out of his depth, so why not take him off after 30 minutes, or even at half time. What the hell is he doing taking him off at 50 mins? Then we get Arshavin with 15 mins left.

I must admit after todays shambles, I finally undertood those who say Gervinho may bee rubbish but he poses some threat with his runs.

Giroud though tried and was unlucky. If his luck changes he will get a bagful as his positional play is good, and he keeps plugging away.

I don't understand what Podolski was so down in the dumps about. Maybe he misses good old Germany.

While TenG is annoying, he's right: our players need to do a lot more off the ball running.

I actually don't think we defended THAT badly, although we gave away a hatful of chances and individual errors cost us...
Whenever we tried to hit United we always looked vulnerable. When we tried to keep it tight we got no change from their midfield and defence.

What a ridiculous statement. I can equally say that had Arsenal not been ****e, we would have been better - duh!

You were only good enough to score 2 and we were only good enough to score 1. You were only bad enough to concede 1 and us 2. Guess what the score was...

What a load of pony from the manc that pretends to be a spud that pretends to be a manc that pretends to be a spud that pretends to be a manc ad infinitum.

We are very inconsistent at the moment, i like everyone was dissappointed with our performance, but you have to put that down to an off day yesterday because even our good players were pretty awful. Who knows maybe wenger will spend in january but we were let off yesterday by other results but who knows we may be able to stick a run together like we did last year but we need our front players to start creating and scoring goals because right now we do not have enough imagination in forward positions and it is putting a lot of pressure on the defensive side of our game.

But i'm sorry i think that chelsea will win the league by a good few points, man utd do have a good strike force and good wingers but yesterday it was the defensive side of their game that made it very difficult for us and it's far too easy for teams now to come and take points off us. I don't think we really have confidence in giroud or podolski to get the goals and thats very worrying.

But being specific about yesterday and you can see that every one of our players were so nervous on the ball, we were taking too many touches and we looked slugish and we need a result to get us back on track and now we travel for a very tricky tie in germany. This month in general is going to be tricky and it will need strong characters to cope and in all honesty i'm not sure we have enough of them.

As always with these post its somewhere in the middle.

We are NOT as bad as some are making out but we are still just short of a TOP squad.

    Firstly.

Arsenal fans really need to get to grips with the fact that the board simply are not trying to compete. It's Obvious. We are playing it safe in the most conservative boring way possible.

Im fed up with fans saying "WE CANT COMPETE WITH UNITED,CITY etc.." how would you know? its not like we've been trying. Because we hav'nt. Trying to compete does not involve selling your biggest assets year upon year.
What surprises me is that Wenger manages to stay close to these teams without any real investment or financial backing.

Soo this year we strengthened in midfield but sold the best striker in the league to one of our rivals. NOW WE LOOK TOOTHLESS.(No suprise there)

We need a striker a TOP QUALITY striker. Signing another Giroud or Chamkah is not helping anything.
If we were really out to replace RVP we would have re-nvested the money on a player of simular quality.(which is going to take 20-30 Million)

The thing that REALLY ****s me off about our striking situation is ever since Henry left us we have NOT signed a top striker because we had RVP in the squad. However he was inevitably injured for at least half of every Season and therefore we spent half a Season without the required firepower. Its the same old bull**** - Even when RVP sold (for £24.5 Million)The club was too conservative to reinvest that money.

Llorente, Falcao, Benzema, Cavani etc.. Thats' the qaulity we needed instead we get Giroud. The French Andy Carroll.

    Agree with this.
This is unfair bollocks. Although I would give Carroll a go in our squad.
    Just saying :)

The correspondance on here after the match at Old Trafford is both understandable and in a way predictable. As Arsenal fans after Wengers early years we were used to a team that challenged for everything, Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup and always the ball, but is that the case anymore and can we adjust our thinking to the fact that for he foreseeable future we should not have higher aspirations than Everton, West Brom, Fulham or Spurs. at old Trafford yesterday we watched an Arsenal team that were just beaten 2-1 they capitulated, the displays against Norwich and QPR hinted at things to come, Schalke are a top quality side, so some excuse there, but there is no excuse for the lame, limp, pedestrian show that was offered up, after the comeback at Reading one of the team said giving up is not acceptable if you play for Arsenal, well somewhere between the M4 and M6 that appeared to get lost, it is a fact that all players are not world class, but it is also a fact that it is not acceptable not to care, and frankly that is what it appeared to be yesterday, not only poor but not worrying enough about it to stir themselves to make a game of it. Alex Ferguson was right this was not an Arsenal v Man U match, it could have been any of the other teams that make up the Premier League and know they are only ever playing to survive and that is the biggest insult of all to the loyal supporters who travelled to old Trafford and did their best to out shout the home crowd. It would be invideous to pick out any particular players for criticism but I think they should all be made to look at the TV replay and then ask themselves are they proud of what they offered up.
