Look at this mudda fudda: please log in to view this image You know you can blame McLaren for starting this....
Surely the same could have applied to Lewis then? If Mclaren could have taken the fuel cell and lines out by removing bodywork (like RB wanted to do) they could have found enough fuel?
McLaren blamed it was human error for the lack of fuel and nothing was actually wrong with the car, RBR are saying it was an actual mechanical fault and fuel was in the car still, just not where it's supposed to be.
I'd take a punt on that. As for all this sending people to the back... it's utter balls. The only plus side this has is opening the title fight again. Clearly Red Bull wouldn't try running low intentionally given Hamiltons punishment.
The dirty side could be an advantage: 2010- Hamilton (2nd) got a great start and nearly got Vettel, Button (4rd) got a great start and passed Alonso, Massa (6th) got a good start but didn't gain any places 2011- Hamilton's start (2nd) was just as good as Vettel's, Webber (4th) had a bad start but he's Webber, Massa (6th) got a great start but couldn't go anywhere because of Webber ahead, Schumacher (8th) got a decent start
So is Vettel going to be running a totally different car tomorrow compared to today? I assume the gearbox and engine will probably be changed, seeing as the resulting grid drops won't actually have an effect, unless vettel has the unnatural ability to start 39th in a 24 car race.
Many things I want to see tomorrow. Schumacher fight through the field. Vettel fight through the field and come across many drivers will they help or hinder? Maldonado's start. Alonso's start. Hamilton's start.
Christian Horner has decided Vettel IS starting from the pit lane? Red Bull team principal Christian Horner added: "During the slow-down lap following the final run of Q3, Renault instructed to immediately stop Sebastian’s car on the circuit due to an issue with the fuel system. "After speaking with the stewards, who accepted the situation of force majeure for technical reasons for the car to be stopped, unfortunately, for reasons yet to be fully understood, 850ml of the required one litre was pumped out of the car following post-race checks. "As a result, the FIA has excluded Sebastian from qualifying and we will withdraw the car from Parc Ferme in order to investigate further. Therefore Sebastian will start from the pit lane for tomorrow’s race. We will need to make the most of Mark’s strong front-row grid position and Sebastian will have a busy evening ahead of him." Because he is being taken out of parc-ferme conditions? Da-**** is going on? http://www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2012/11/14018.html
Means Seb will be attacking like crazy, higher top speed for DDRS, new engine, new gearbox, choice of tyres... Don't be surprised is he doesn't pit until the last lap or until a SC comes at a later point.
They're obviously going to run new parts on the car, take the gearbox change, and maybe a new engine. They wouldn't withdraw the car if they were going to keep it the same.
Makes sense to do all on the car that they can and start from the safer position of the pits. Even if the rest of the race is dull, we should at least get a good blast through the pack from Vettel. He's such a sport for making the race interesting.
Is it worth guessing a Mechanical failure for Vettel tomorrow? Lot's of new parts that haven't been bedded in etc.
