Cheers , I do agree we did over perform last year but there were a lot of teams that were well below the benchmark set , Leeds , Leicester for a start , we were running our of steam as the season came to a close and it could not come soon enough for me What also helped us was momentum and thats is also something that wil hinder us this season , if we go down this season it will set us back an awful long way as we unlike West Ham will not gamble as much as they did , they kept all their players and Gold has admitted if they did not go up they would be I deep financial trouble , you have to respect that desire and balls . We should of shown the same in the transfer markets because if we do go down I can not see how we will keep our players .
I think this is where I disagree I think we have shown desire and balls by spending over £30m. We can disagree with how it has been spent, but to be one of the biggest net spenders is Europe does take desire and balls, doesn't it?
In the grand scheme of things its very little , its only because others have not spent the money , look how much Stoke have spent to stay in the League over the last 5 years ?
But they did not spend anywhere near £30m in the first transfer window when they came up did they? Is that because they lacked desire or balls?
http://www.transferleague.co.uk/league-tables/transfer-league-table-last-five-seasons.html Thats the last five seasons .
If our squad is unchanged. yes. Do i think we will go down. No. But i am still gonna moan in the meantime
So as I said they didn't spend £30m in their first window back, in fact looks like it might have taken four windows to get to that figure. Same question that you avoided answering does that mean they lacked desire and balls?
I am not avoiding anything , maybe they had a better side (they did) when they came up , astute buys , academy players etc etc ? Look at what they have achieved in the last 5 years ?
GMI you stated that we lacked desire and balls in the transfer market. I ask you if being one of the top 5 net spenders in Europe £30m+ is lacking in desire and balls? Would be great if your answer could either start or end with a yes or no rather than dance around the question.
Net spenders , thats it net spenders . We spent £30 Million great but if thats not enough to keep us up or its been spent in the worng places and Adkins has not disagreed then its either we did not show enough balls and spend more to stay up OR Adkins would not front up to Cortese and say he would rather have defenders as opposed to a blue chip signing ? So yes of course we have bottled it . We should of spent more on defenders as we quite plainly are going to have to in the Winter . At over inflated prices as well .
So, I'm beginning to get your drift here GMI. I think, reading between the lines of all the subtle coded messages you have written on this board over the last few weeks, you believe we didn't spend enough money on defenders in the summer. Am I right?
I thinks thats about it , a lack of drive and assertion from Adkins to buy them and others when Cortses wanted a blue chip signing OR belief he thought that the team was good enough with a few additions for the premiership . Either way a mistake .
Well then, why couldn't you have just come out and said that before instead of beating around the bush the way you have?
I have not , people come and question it and it gets brought up again and again , they have the heads in the sand as far as I am concerned , another game another game , learning , January , thats all you get .
