Noel Gallagher once said, if someone tells me they don't like Radiohead, I know they're clueless and I ignore them from then on.

I feel the same way about Ocean Colour Scene, who are one of the best bands I've ever seen live and a band who've produced two albums that many other bands site as inspiration for their music.

You've done a grand job of slagging people off, without mentioning anything about what you do listen to. Scared we might all take the piss?

Never heard of Ocean Colour Scene nor this Weller fella. Still music is a personal thing seems rude to claim any band is ****. Its a genre thing. The scratchiest garage band with no talent at all has a place and a following. Music can be more than a refined tone and well written lyrics.

Get yourself on YouTube and check out OCS, they're well worth a listen.

The two are connected, as Steve Cradock formed OCS and also plays guitar on many of Weller's tracks.

Paul Weller has written some fantastic stuff, you have to remember everything he did with The Jam he did before he was 23! Tubestation, Private Hell, Thats Entertainment, Eton Rifles etc etc, he's put out some crap as well but anyone would if they were as prolific as Weller, can still produce some top quality solo stuff, he's been a **** at times as well but he's a British music icon without any doubt. Enjoyed OCS in their day and saw them at Brid, Moseley Shoals was great. Like some Radiohead but not massively in to them enough to know all their albums.

Marley, Hendrix, Morrison to name but a few who have consistently written great songs, unless we're discounting them because they all died young.

Never really got into him, but I do like some of the Jam stuff. The Gift is one of my favourite albums ever.

Not a big fan of his music but appreciate his craftsmanship. You don't maintain his status and following for 30+ years without some talent. He's a crap guitarist though in the conventional sense! Guess that explains why he is doing what he is doing and I am doing what I am.........

I can see why people would like them. Refined, and a decent sound. It isnt my style, a little to poppy.

Must of the music I listen to is punk (70's, 80's and garage punk bands) and some folk (new stuff not the classics). In general the vast majority of the stuff I listen to almost no one else does. I guess I should provide examples since you said I should check yours out on youtube.

    Folk
Brown Bird. - Soft slow folk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdwTn4nxr_0&feature=related

    Punk
Reagen Youth - one of the best punk bands from the 80's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqMRQrXlchU
    Rise Against - mainstream punk - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhldbymXK-8
The ****ing Eagles - all though a lot of their stuff is bordering on a poppy sound http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1gwWOxBSd8

Sounds like you have decent taste, I can let you off not being into OCS if you're a Killing Joke fan?

I let people off most things if they're a Killing Joke fan.

The electronica sound to a lot of their stuff throws me off but their early 80's stuff isnt to bad.

You changed your post, I said you sounded like you had decent taste before you posted a list of bands I don't know. All the best punk bands were English by the way.:emoticon-0105-wink:
