To be fair, the worst career move a manager can make is barely winning a game for 18 months. Closely followed by leaving Geovanni on the bench so you can play Craig ***an. And playing a 4-6-0 formation. I liked Brownie, he did a great job taking us up and I wish him well, but once he took us up he lost the plot completely and was without doubt the architect of his own downfall.
Now there's a blast from the past! A very cold one that sends shivers of dread down any footballing spine - an out and out pratt if ever there was one. Good call on Ash as assistant - has the tamman got the job yet? Can't disagree with anything OLM - post something controversial ffs!
I hope he does well for himself as he will have learnt from everything. He needs to go to his roots of getting strong-minded players in the dressing room so long as they are not tools (Bullard, King etc.) or clapped out (Ash at Preston, the Boat with us). Kind of his geographical area too so he might have a bit of backing up there.
To me there also seems to be a gulf not just on the playing side between Championship and Premiership but on the managerial side too. I wonder if this is why Bruce seems to have got a very good grip on us in our league so far after being in the top-flight and arguably struggling towards the end.
How quickly did Brian Little go from winning the Cup with Villa to managing us as a side who'd been in the 4th tier for god know's how long? Saying that, I'm sure he came to us via a scouting job at Southend where his brother was the manager, or was that after he left us he did that?
Totally agree with this. He can be a good manager and a great appointment for them IF he just goes back to basics and remembers what he did right at the start. His turnaround when taking over from Parky was stunning, we went from being, in a nutshell, totally ****e, to stuffing teams at home left, right and centre in just a couple of months.
I may be mistaken but I dont think Brown has actually taken over yet. It is just rumored that he may take over.
Yeah? If I was Paul McShane I guess that I'd love him too...................every time that I checked my bank balance. There again I guess that the £26k a week that he's been pulling from the club was absolutely nothing to do with the manager that signed him on, I guess it was all Duffman's/Bartlett's/Steve Bruce's/Niall Quinn's/AN other's* fault. *delete as appropriate
I agree, in normal circumstances managers are fired much to easily without having the opportunity to redeem the situation, typical then that at City we went totally the other way and left it until the situation was FAR from redeemable, he should have gone in November/December during our second season in the PL, without doubt!
