Ted Kravitz ‏@tedkravitz Still on the Vettel trail - He just emerged from stewards smiling along with Renault and Red Bull engineers.. More soon
Damn. That was the last chance for this race to be interesting. I'll probably give it a miss. See you in Austin.
If it's a gearbox issue, then why not just take a 5 place drop and start by alonso? All he has to do is finish ahead of him.
Too much to ask that Maldonado takes Vettel out at the start to keep the title race alive? Great to see that once again me getting Alonso in the sweepstakes has caused him to forget how to drive
But are they going to have to change the gearbox? If not... smells a bit iffy. Trying to keep up with it all on my phone. Not going to get to see qualifying for a few more hours.
Can someone explain why the FIA rules allow someone to purposefully stop on track with mechanical difficulties without receiving any penalties, yet purposefully or otherwise (ie. being too brain dead to make sure there was enough in the tank) stopping (even in Q3) because of low fuel means back to of the grid you go? Surely Vettel could have dawdled back to the pits? Basically, I only want Vettel to be punished in this ridiculously harsh way to spice up the title fight, but I'd still like to know why the double-standards. Anyway, hope the race tomorrow is at least a bit exciting, the last few have been woeful in my opinion.
