There isnt a cat in hells chance of Mckenna being here next season no matter what league we are in tickles.
As far as I'm aware, every one of the contracts expires in the summer, so they're all at the end of the season mentioned. I'm surprised that over half our players are out of contract at the end of this season, we could end up with a very different squad next season.
Always end in the summer time. Normally June/July. Glad you think so. Steve Bruce told you that then has he ? Its upto McKenna to prove his worth regardless. imo. I think you may be correct IF we get back to the PL. It going to be an interesting watch both on and off the pitch.
I would think there's only Simpson who Bruce will want to offer a new deal to at the minute. Rosenior may force Steve to rethink if he performs well in the coming weeks. Dwason may be offered a coaching role but I cannot see him getting another playing deal with us. I think McKenna will be gone. Cairney will not be offered a new deal until he can prove his fitness. McShane & Oli may be offered new deals on lesser terms but I dont think that will be sorted until we know what league we are in next season. Same with Faye. Cullen & East will be released IMO. Townsend needs to go out on loan and I think Brucey will be offering him to clubs as we speak. Cooper, Bradley, Devitt & Oxley's deals will be reviewed when their loan spells end I would have thought.
I wonder if Brian Laws will come knocking for Townsend ? Scunny really do need some quality in there defence. I dont expect Faye - Devitt - Oxley - Cullen to be kept on at any price. McShane - McKenna - Oli on reduced terms and dependant on form between now and May. Dawson could well get a coaching role and it would be wise to keep his playing registration as well just in case for the odd game. The rest have it all in there own hands. PERFORM and a new contract will be offered. imo.
I'd be stunned. I think the only one on the list who might even be offererd a renewal would be Simmo and I dont expect him to stay. I can see a move back to the Village for someone like Palace.
Why do you link all our young players with Scunny? I know they are geographically close but thats where the similarities end. If we are in the championship then the likes of Faye, Oli & Macca may be offered deals on reduced terms. Dawson should not be given a new playing deal with us after this season, his legs have already gone.
Personally I hope Mcshane gets released. Even for massively reduced terms we could get a better player than him on the same wages. We have paid the man probably multiple millions of pounds and we have got no real value for that. To be fair to him he's come in and had a few decent performances lately, but from what I've seen of him over the last 4 or 5 seasons he has no pace, is liable to make mistakes, his distribution is limited and he commits needless fouls when carrying out his jumping on another players back routine that then results in a direct free kick in a dangerous area. He also suffers from the law of averages being against him. If we aim to get back into the top flight he would be found wanting again, I know he performed ok in that first loan spell with us but when he signed permanently he was fairly abysmal. I think we could get a much more consistent defender with pace who suits the 352 system on a free next summer on similar wages to what we would offer Macca in a contract extension.
It's a shame if Rozzie goes, but if he's gonna go, then shouldn't we really be thinking of making some money from him at least in January? We can't let him go for nothing just for the sake of having him on the bench for the 2nd half of the Season.
They haven't got a pot to piss in, Laws has already been told he'll have to make do with what he's got. We really don't want our lads turning out for a badly performing team, with no fans, who can't afford their wages anyway.
They can start talking to "foreign" clubs 6 months before the end of their contracts. They can't talk to clubs in the English league set up (including non-league) until a month before the end of their contract, unless of course the club says "off you go, feel free to find yourself a club for next season". Age is irrelevent, but obviously there's compensation issues to be resolved separately for the younger players.
