Aired on Humberside news this morning and would suggest to me he is 99% certain to be leaving at the end of the season. Is a massive shame cos he's nothing but ace but if we play 3-5-2 standard then it just doesnt suit him. Thanks for everything Liam, truly one of the last 'good guys' who plays for the right reasons and turned down much more lucrative offers with bigger clubs to come and play for us cos it meant guaranteed pitch time.
I like Rosie a lot, and he does seem to really care. Plus he's class. It'd be a shame if he goes, a real shame, but I don't think Bruce has been convinced from the start.
Just that he'd like to stay, he's loved it here but it's out of his hands and if he doesnt get offered a deal he wont worry cos he had interest in the summer "from clubs in higher leagues". After hearing a million of these it just seemed like reading between the lines it was both an early hint at goodbye and a call out to other clubs highlighting his availability. Also, I know OLM said he'd heard a rumour about this so Im not claiming any kind of inside knowledge here. The audio clip just seemed to back up everything OLM said.
With Dudgeon out Rosie has one last chance to convince Steve Bruce that he is worth a new contract. Hopefully Rosie will play a blinder at left wb for the rest of the season
Well the article in the HDM disagrees and most of it is quotes from him, he wants to make as much of an impact as he can at LWB to make sure he get's a new deal. He said he played over 50 games at LB at Fulham, which I didn't realise. He's also a dynamic full back and he's been making some better crosses of late. At Bristol he did a decent job, so I wouldn't make any judgements till January when out of contract players' contracts are to be dealt with. To be fair he does say he's a bit unsure as to what will happen, as originally it was supposed to be sorted in the summer with Barms still in charge.
Everyone has their price unfortunately. And to prove it, I reckon someone will be in for the Zaha from Palace sooner rather than later, and i doubt it'll be for the daft amount someone was banding around on here recently. Rosie's got a few games to prove himself now. I hope he does well.
If their contracts run out at end of season can they start talking to other clubs in January? Fairly sure it will go on anyway, just wonder if they can do it openly.
They can start talking to other clubs when they're six months away from their contracts expiring, as long as they're 23 or over. Under 23 I think they have to actually be released before they can talk to other clubs.
More like it. Well said. With Dawson - McShane and Faye also out of contract in the summer it would be an act of gross folly not to award Rosie a new contract. But he has to earn one first. Nobody should expect a given one.
I agree, I think Brucey is just making noises, like there are hundreds of players without clubs available, so that they can negotiate the best deal with these players coming up for new contracts.
Good point John. Anyone come up with a list of al the players contracts? When is Chezz and Hobbs contracts up?
I don't think he is that good, nowhere near as good as Jack Hobbs. We'll see, it's a gut feeling I have that he will leave even though we will offer him an improved contract.
Spot on. Upwards of 400 players from last season still without a club and it will get worse next summer. Apart from the really top players - the rest are now going to have to fall in line and be more realistic with there demand. Not saying this applies to Rosie at all. But another point has to be IF City get back to the PL how many of the out of contract players can play at PL level ? Maybe Rosie - Simpson - Oli(as you get more time on the ball) - McKenna(on in certain games) so you can see why Bruce and the club will think long and hard. For sure getting back to the PL would see the end of McShane and Faye and unless the club offer him a backroom role then Dawson could well be having his last season with us sadly. The good point about having so many out of contract is that they will have to perfrom to there best to get a new contract somewhere next summer. Treat em mean to keep em keen.
