I have only seen Cooper have one poor game, at Doncaster when he played alongside Zayatte. There are few in a city shirt I can say that about. I don't think many will slag off Cooper, hopefully he will return as I don't think he was totally cast aside - being captain of the reserves.
I'd suggest you set the bar very low with regard to what you consider 'brilliant'. He's certainly not been rubbish, but he's a seriously limited footballer, if we wanted to flog him, what do you think we'd get for him? I'd say £100k tops and even then his dad would have to move to another club first.
It is noticeably quieter when it comes to people slagging off Alex Bruce...... undoubtedly a great value signing. Cooper showed great promise however he looks like he may not progress to the heights previously thought. SB is proving he knows a hell of a lot about what players it takes to win this. Quinn and Aluko are great signings but Elmo is a different class - he is only in 2nd gear and obviously one the most talented players in this league
I just don't get how anyone can suggest Bruce has been brilliant, if we want automatic promotions we can't play him, as its about far more than just defending. You have to be able to distribute and much more. Its the same with Macca, i think its just a popular thing to say Macca plays well now, despite the fact he clearly doesn't. Suppose some have lower standards.
That's because McShane has been playing. I didn't really like Bruce until he got injured. I like his basic defending and commitment but as OLM says, he's seriously limited on the ball. McShane coming in to replace him meant that I stopped caring about a defender's passing and just long for one who can actually defend. I was really relieved when he came back at Bristol. I think Cooper would be better than either of them, but he needs to sort his attitude out.
Off topic, but was Bruce a free transfer or did we sign him from Ipswich when he was on non-contract terms?
And how much would we get for Coops? And you talk like it's Peter Taylor and Junior Lewis again. He has played most of his football when his dad WASN'T his manager.
Yeah I'd say he's been in our top 5 regular performers this season. Who has been better (in no particular order)? Elmo Aluko Chester Quinn Im struggling for another ahead of Bruce....
Only agree with Faye there. Simmo has been both very good and very poor, the archetypal hot and cold. Bruce has been reliable and great value for money.
Oli is blowing hot and cold. He wasn't very good against Ipswich and he doesn't do what he's put there to do, and get stuck in. He plays the ball around well enough, but he jumps out of tackles and second balls too much.
No he played more than that. He proved last season he is more than good enough but lacks experience. Cooper does not have Bruce jnrs experience. Cooper needs first team football but Portsmouth was not the right place to go. I am very surprised that City did not offer both Cooper and Townsend to a local club weeks ago. Scunny are crying out for some quality defenders for starters. The only way Cooper will convince Bruce is doing well in first team football. .
Now that ^^^ is just about spot on. Cooper can be his own worst enenmy at times. He needs first team football and to get back to what he does best. Like Rosie, Cooper has to show Bruce he deserves a new contract.
COME ON THEN IDIOTS!!!!!!!! dont just say he has a bad attitude and then not back it with anything. WHATS HE DONE???????? got seen out with ****ing jimmy bullard a couple of times. BIG ****ING WOWSER, GIVE THE LAD A ****ING BREAK!!!!!!!!! BUNCH OF ****ERS!!!!!!!!!
Dudgeon has had a much more positive impact on our season than Bruce. Simpson hasn't had a bad game I don't think, just quieter ones, but he still holds the ball up well and puts himself about. I'm warming towards Bruce, but to say he's been brilliant is an massive overstatement.
