Not a fan of Baileys myself...but we do have plenty of sloe gin and a flagon of rhubarb vodka in the fridge. Last year we made damson gin adding some vanilla. It was popular enough to disappear very quickly
Sounds cold back in Europe. brrrrrrrrr. All good over here, looking forward to the long weekend and 3 points.

Thanks for the coffee Ak, I like Sloe Gin Theo but it can be a little sharp, not a great lover of Vodka myself but rhubarb vodka might just sway me. (Literally) Talking of literature, how's the sequel going? I really enjoyed The Glint of Silver so thanks for writing it.
I've just looked and this is my 1,000 post (my how time flies) So not to waste this posting I would like to say a few thank yous To Ak for the gallons of coffee he has made for me together with all of the useful info and facts on Iceland that I have learnt so much about not to mention last seasons Match Threads. To Hornette & Dan for their friendship and for moderating this forum To Theo for the reminising and banter. To Leo (I do wish you and your family better times) for the sometimes heated but enjoyable debates (I look forward to our pint still) To NNW for setting me right when I needed to be set right (In his oppinion anyway) To Sir Luther where ever he may be (well & happy I hope) for making me so welcome and our private chats. To M. French for his knowledge and great stories on rural France (I'm pleased your on the mend) To Al for putting up with my tongue in cheek jibs at the Scots (and his escapades with H in the WPL) To W-Y for his tales from Banditland To Yorkie for his tales from home and away (not forgetting his brave jump into redundancy) To all those who have created the Match threads in Ak's wake thanks I have enjoyed them all. Not forgetting Barry, Bolton, Zen and many many more whose contributions to this forum I have really enjoyed And finally a big sorry to Norway for upsetting him and I would just like to say I wish him and his family well and hope all gets better soon. Thanks once again to you all for putting up with me
Sloe gin does need plenty of sugar in the making and of course you have to pick the sloes at the right moment. As far as the book goes I've just got up to 69,000 words this morning, so over two thirds of the way. It's a rewrite rather than working from scratch but I'm not rushing it. At the present rate of progress perhaps a couple of months to finish. If you enjoyed 'A Glint of Silver' and you have a few minutes spare, any chance of adding a review on the Amazon website? Lots of people have read and liked it, but only one review has been posted and, while not being entirely negative, it's not as balanced as I'd hope for. I'll be very grateful if you feel able.
You're very kind, Charlie. Much appreciated. If you'd like a complimentary paperback copy send me a private message and I'll post you one.
I agreed to go shopping in Limoges today Wet and very wet on route down the autoroute. I am not supposed to drive too fast incase an emergency stop is required, so I kept within the wet weather speed limit all of the time. This of course meant that I was overtaken constantly by cars throwing up plumes of water and finding myself behind Spanish lorries who create tidal waves that you cannot see through. First stop lunch. Venison in a rich wine sauce, dark chocolate mousse, wine and coffee all for £8 which I think is pretty good. Managed to avoid some of the shopping that I dislike by saying that the leg needed a rest, so I sat in the car and listened to some French radio stations. More than one as some of the music was wierd to say the least Did have a potter round Jardiland, which as the name implies is a garden centre. The whole of one section was taken over by Christmas decorations all very tastefully arranged in room settings. Really did get the urge to buy some plants, but know that they will have to wait a bit longer. Reached home, still raining and the drain across the road appears to be blocked as there is now a big puddle there.
evening all! Wow Charlie, that's one of the loveliest threads i've seen...thank you, and you are more than welcome!
Morning all, grey and showers forecast throughout the day here, but quite mild for early November. The Ligue 2 (Championship) matches here are played mainly on a Friday evening, and this year start at 18.45. Not quite sure why they moved them to the earlier hour, but guess that it might mean that more youngsters can go and some people can go on their way home from work. Clearly they need to do something about attendances as even Ligue 1 sometimes have smaller gates than we see at Watford.
A quick ale before handing back the wife's laptop! Sounded like a very exciting match - 3 hard earned points there. Great win for Deveronvale in the Scottish Cup - bring on Rangers in the next round!!
Good day today - 3 points for the Orns and Jersey RFC beat 4th place Plymouth Albion to move off the bottom of the Championship. Plus being a Middlesex fan, it was good to see Morgs get a big score in Mumbai. Just need the Devils to win at Braehead to complete things.
I think that it has been a good week for Watford FC with one exception. Wednesday over a 1000 kids turned up at the ground for an open day where they could get close to the players and staff. Thursday there was a good fans forum, with questions being answered in a knowledgeable fashion, and showing that they did understand what the club stands for. Today we had a win against a team that are above us, yet if you read the Leicester forum some on there admit that they were second best. The one thing that didn't go so well was the attendance today. Under 11,000 home fans is not good when we are aiming to get 15,000. Can it be that some people know that there are two home games on the bounce and have to choose which they can afford to go to? If you look around different games there seems to be a trend of lower attendances which I can only put down to people not having enough money for two games in a week. The club want people to go, so a suggestion is that they sell two match tickets at a good price. The only trouble with too many specials is that people might stop buying season tickets.
