Best or Favourite Player you seen Worst Player you seen Best and worst manager Your favourite match The worst game you ever seen Where did you stand or sit Who did you go with? When was your first game? Or any other memories you would like to share then post them here. Thanks
My favourite match of course is
My fave player was Ian Holloway and I think the best player to play at Twerton. To be honest can't really remember who the worst player is I saw I'll get back to that one. Best manager Gerry Francis, the worst manager Martin Dobson. The worst game I've ever saw was probably the FA Cup Replay with Aston Villa we were well humbled live on Sky. I stood in the family enclosure the most (next to the away end) and had a season ticket for a few seasons but also I stood for a lot of matches on the popular side and I can remember sitting down once in the grandstand after a friend of mine won some tickets I recall we beat Bradford 4-0 I think John Taylor scored a hatrick.
Best or Favourite Player you seen. For sentimental reasons Devon White. Bruno, a Rovers hero for eternity Worst Player you seen. Difficult, any of the ****head team that played in the 1990 biggest match in Bristol football history. Best and worst manager. Best Francis, worst for me was Gould I never liked that **** Your favourite match. No brainer, beating the **** 3-0 The worst game you ever seen. One November evening losing to Torquay, can't remember the season but I think it was in the Auto Shield cup, cold raining ****ing miserable, **** gate and we played crap. Where did you stand or sit. Corner of the popular terrace (the shed) and the open end next to the away support in the decent weather Who did you go with? Other Gasheads When was your first game? Pre season friendly against our new landlords, I think we won 2-0 but the game was only a sideshow as we took in our new home. Was really wiered, after years of segregation and fences at Eastville you could pretty much walk around the whole ground, untill they got it up to league standard. Or any other memories you would like to share then post them here. Have to say, when we first went there I and probably a good few others thought we were doomed to eventually become extinct. Thanks to the milkmen not to mention Gerry Francis, not only did we survive bit had one of the most successful periods in the clubs history.
Good stuff. I can't remember exactly my first match there but I would say the furthest back I can remember would be the Play-Off Semi Final against Fulham.
In the ten years there we were quite successful Play-Off Finalists 1988/89 3rd Division Champions 1989/90 Leyland Daf Runners up 1989/90 2nd Division Play-Offs Finalists 1994/95 We had the worlds first £1 million goalkeeper And drew 1-1 we've the mighty Liverpool
The Stars was appropriate for you, being out of this world gurning your head off Twerton was a ****hole never felt welcome there
Remember greasy Joe And Oscar who used to walk around the pitch and sale scratch cards (I thinks it was anyway)
for me there was a lot of great games like in 1990. the 3-0 win over city for example. however for me this game is my favourite..... as a youngster i was bang right on the middle of the poplar stand right a the very front with a great view. never missed a match and because of this i got a job at rovers as they saw me being reliable. i was watching the game in different areas due to my job. i was a ballboy. i always arived early due to my parents. so i use to help ray kendal set up the changing room hanging up the shirts and getting the players boots out of this massive container and had to match them up. as a young kid back then i loved doing that. i use to get so much stuff from ray each time as thank yous like rovers shirts/jumpers etc etc.
good ya dirty ****head ****. Funny enough the early Twerton days coincided with the rave scene of which I played an active part <totalandutterhardcorepillpoppingraverfuckedinthehead>
i hated that white bar. amount of times i banged my head when we scored my 1st game at twerton was against west brom. i cant remember if it was 1st game of season or last game of season. we drew 1-1. there were lots of fights on the poplar stand as a lot of west brom fans were in our end. where fights broke out we were forced on to the pitch. i was so scared lol. i was really young though
Yeah it was the last game of the 1990/91 season I think and one of there fans was seen running across the poplar roof I recall we actually relagated them to
