Im not having a go to those who went to the match last night, but to those who didnt a big WELL DONE.By voting with your feet and not attending the overpriced game the match against Villa will definitely be cheaper.Shame on you Mr McNally.
Actually I don't think it will be. I can see the clamour to get a quarter final ticket added to the spicy nature of our opponents will mean it will be at least the same amount. I can also see McNally using it as a justification for the game against Spurs. No way will the guy ever, ever admit he made a mistake no matter what and as the bar was raised to £30 last match it will be at least the same for the next game in my opinion.
Anything less than £30 will be an admission that he got it wrong! What the price on getting through or reaching the final? Surely you should try to maximise your advantage at this stage and if that means selling out so the crowd is more vociferous then so be it. Can you imagine the club sales, the tv revenue etc etc pouring in if we got to the semis/ final. Careful with your short sighted look at the next match Mr McNally!
he did get the pricing wrong though.i think it probably took guts to go on twitter this morning and ask fans for their assessments as that pretty much admits guilt. the price might not go down but it sure as hell won't go up. judging by the responses he got, i think the price might come down a bit. people cannot afford to go, whether its villa or man utd or barnsley or walsall or whoever. £30 was and is too much for most of our fans to fork out and the next round is the week before christmas!
Anyone who listened to the Radio Norfolk commentary will have heard a recorded interview with McNally aired during the half-time interval. He acknowledged the criticism from fans, and if my memory serves me correctly, said something like: "obviously we didn't get it quite right this time and will be looking again at pricing". He also made the point that, since these games are now settled on the night, pricing has to be agreed with the other club. Never admits to getting it wrong? Well, last night he did just that.
Well if he said that then I stand corrected! More's the point, if he is actually going to take on board and act on the feedback from fans then he is again proving to us what a good Chief Executive he is. I guess he tested the water and realised it was wrong and now let's hope he acts to put things right!
I made this point on the 3 threads on pricing before the game. It is not just what NCFC can get out of the game by pandering to their fans clamouring for low admission prices. It is a Cup game where there can be no replay so you take the total receipts, deduct expenses, give the Football League their cut and then divide the rest between the 2 Clubs. Charge too little and, after players are paid, you find that a Club is out of pocket. Spurs last night and Villa next game are only interested in what they take home and you have to bear that in mind. Villa know that we will get a full house for that game even if we charge £30 and won't let us charge less so that we can be good to our fans. Sorry folks but it is a business and as we charged £30 for Spurs Villa will expect us to charge £30 for them especially as it is one step nearer Wembley.
Im guessing that adult tickets will be £23-£30. The one thing they will most probably do is put the kids prices up a tad. At least he admitted getting the prices wrong.
Anybody know what clubs charge for Champions League/Europa? Even though last nights game was overpriced for many, was that the total reason they didn't show? I look at attendances for some clubs in the Europa and they were less than last nights. So is it just the price or just the price versus the strength or attraction of the opposition?
I don't know what the ticket prices were, but Liverpoo had 37,500+ and Chelski over 41,000. Against similar top level opposition to those two, that makes our 16.500 look a little lame!
I have also made this point before. Wigan probably have a hardcore support of 15k. They charged £10 for their tie with Bradford and allowing for away support attracted 11k. Would they have got 22k if they had charged £5 or only 5k if they had charged £20? I don't think it made any difference. Most of the 11k who wanted to go would have paid £20 and those who didn't, because of the Competition and opposition, wouldn't have gone even if they had charged £5.
Villa will sell out so it will be £30 , thats the way of things, I dont like it cause I have 2 lads and with desiel car park and food it will be £100 easy but i'll be there cant miss it, cant let them miss it heaven knows how many years will pass before we get this far again
are we genuinely comparing our fan base to wigan's? totally different circumstances. had the tickets been more reasonably priced yesterday evening, we'd have probably had a full house. i pay on average £25 a game for my season ticket. why the hell would i pay more to watch two reserve teams? it didn't make sense when it was announced and now the game has been played in front of a half-empty stadium it still makes no sense. the club tested the water, to see what they could get away with. they charged too much and they know it.
What was embarrassing listening to the game on the radio was you could only hear the Spurs fans! I went to the two previous games and the atmosphere was hopeless as it was for most of last night, without the regular support it’s a dead feeling. Last night’s game should have been fairly close to capacity, which would have made for a better atmosphere. After all we are always being told how the players love playing in front of full houses, and how much our support is appreciated. It’s not just about the money, as I said on a previous thread the club tells us it will be debt free by the end of the season, without these games taken into the equation, so why rip us off? I don’t hold with the ‘money going into the transfer kitty’ either, the club must already know who the transfer targets are for January, if any, and how much they need to put aside for them. These games are BONUS games, I would have happily paid £20 last night, sat in a almost full stadium, singing our songs, but I didn’t simply because of greed!
I pay around £40 a game (Cathedral Lounge) + i get a programme and coffee, so that works out around £34 a game. If I had purchased programme and coffee last night(which I didn't) I would have payed out £36. No one can convince me that thats fair!!! People in other areas would have a larger cost difference. The only fair way is to price ALL cup games pro rata to the relevant area you sit in. SIMPLES
I have not purchased a single programme in the PL car park went up to £6 so that was funded by dropping the programme Now buy sweets and drinks for boys at supermarket and hot food from hot dog stand near bridge and have talked the boys out of any new kits so have negated most of PL price increase
I was not comparing any fan base - I was just supporting the view expressed by Redruth that gates for extra games are not just affected by admission price. Some people will pay whatever the price - others won't go to a League Cup game even if admission was free. I also challenged the view that if you charge half the price you get more than double the attendance and vice versa. Various business surveys over the years show that to be untrue.
There are indeed a lot more variables than just the ticket price to take into account. That's a very sweeping generalisation which you have used to justify your position. I am not saying it is wrong, just very unsubstantiated!
Which brings us full circle to the Wigan example I gave. 11k at £10 a head. Unless you believe that they would have got 22k if they had charged £5 and only 5k at £20 a head then the surveys I mentioned are correct.
but wigan were a) playing bradford and b) most importantly, only have a hardcore of around 11k support anyway! they only get around 18k each premier league game - they've got the 11k hardcore, a few stragglers who attend when they feel like it and the rest is away support. your example is useless. our hardcore is 25k!
