Surely not, despite being in the relegation zone and having a poor defense I can't see us being relegated bar a severe injury crisis. It would be good to see where we currently stand on this issue particularly after some insipid performances and hysterical posting. On saintsweb 40% are saying we will go down, which is surprisingly positive given the quality of that forums posts.
No. We have too much quality despite our defensive frailties, which will be strengthened in January. We'll be fine, trust me, I'm a Southampton fan.
With the current set-up and no changes I would be inclined to say yes. But if we strengthen sufficiently in January, no. Until then, it's all about staying in touching distance if you ask me.
We`ve had enough games were we would not expect to take any points, We showed plenty of promise against the Manchester clubs, I think the confidence will return, a couple of back2back wins and I think (hope) we will not be an easy team to beat. I voted to stay up.
I suspect this poll will suggest that about 70% of people on here think we will stay up. Not really surprising considering the majority of voters will be Saints fans. Would be interesting to see what non Saints fans think of our chances
As it stands yes , also with the way the manager selects and plays the formation if that continues we will also go down , if we strengthen in January and we strengthen well with no scrimping and trying to save the odd million then yes we can stay up , I am 50/50 on whether this will happen , going down will really be a hugely wasted opportunity and a real disaster for this football club .
In many ways it is good having this reasonable run of fixtures in November as it will be a proper indication of if we need to strengthen to stay up or not. If we were 13th on January 1 would you still try and strengthen or wait for the summer to bring in our number 1 targets? If no drastic improvements are available I would be inclined to leave it until the summer. Perhaps a left back but with Luke Shaw and Ben Reeves coming through we do not want to be stunting their growth which I suspect was part of the thinking in not signing buttner. I don't want to see panic buying in defence where we are left with cover in defence but no great increase in quality which is what happened with the signings of Tadanari Lee and Billy sharp, with all due respect to them. Of course it would be a massive risk to not make any signings and we can probably expect to see one or two but I would love to see us back in our current squad and up and coming youngsters. Just imagine signing someone of Ramirez's quality in defence!!!
The fixture run in November is good for us in many ways as it will allow everyone to sit back and fully see where we are at , the people who fully support Adkins will see and well as the ones who question whether he is completely out of his depth .
I'm sorry but I disagree on the formation. We play a 4-2-3-1 no? With two holding midfielders, the wingers pushed up and an forward behind the main striker. Well, last year we had Cork and Morgan holding, Lallana and Guly on the wings pushed up, with Connolly deeper than Lambert who is the main striker. That isn't a 4-4-2, that is a 4-2-3-1, which is exactly what we are playing at the moment. So your formation comment is complete Cow manure I'm afraid.
You are voting on whether you think the team will go down at the end of the season based on current form, the prospect of Adkins being sacked, injuries, signings etc. Factor anything you like into the prediction it's up to you
How do you possibly confuse football with numbers? By which I mean the stated formation is meaningless, football isn't numbers.
As neutral I would say it's 50/50.I like the way your team is playing it Blackpool style though and really hope you manage it.There are definitely three worse teams in there than either of us.
