What is the "emotive subject" brb?

If its the manager having a pop at supporters, I don't know what he or they said, but I'd back superbob to know more about the game than the blokes in the stands.

Sounds as if his chairman is running scared and not backing bob, but taking the supporters side. I suppose he's trying to make sure none of them get alienated which he's entitled to do.

Good luck to superbob in finding another position. Gills Legend with a capital "L".

I meant emotive as in towards anyone with criticism of fans, regardless of knowing what was said. Evident that it was followed by an apology by Upson. To clarify I am not expressing an opinion either way on my part other than to feel it is always a emotive subject in discussions re fans (maybe a wrong use of word then). As for Superbob just purely highlighting an article in the public domain, which is what the intention of the board is here to discuss and nothing more.

Oh - I thought you'd dedicated an entire thread to me. Slightly disappointed now!

re: the article, it doesn't seem very much like Super Bob was being very mature..."I know more than you" (or the words to that effect) don't seem a particularly good route to go down. That's aside from the fact that managers are always going to receive criticism, so he should probably be used to it, or get used to it.

Having said that, the man can do no wrong in my eyes.

I wasn't having a pop or anything brb.
Just that I didn't know what was 'emotive' about it.

Lots of players & managers over the years have had a go at fans ie Roy Keane and the prawn sandwich remark at Old Trafford. Wass-her-name at Norwich and the "lets be having you" tirade. Most of the time tho', the fans will win that one. If a player or manager hasn't got his own teams fans on his side, it will normally not end up very well. As superbob has found to his cost.

Me, I don't mind if they have a go at the fans. So long as it's a reasonable remark. After all, most players and managers cop an awful lot of abuse, much of it completely unwarranted and completely untrue.
