Yes I did think that would be the case, as I said in the original post.

Thanks Channonfodder for that considered response. I feel that moving it into the OT thread will reduce the range of opinions it gets but if that's the rule then fair enough.

If he's allowed to run for Parliament then he should be allowed on Twitter. He has some moronic views, but then so do a lot of people on Twitter.

Remember when Wikileaks released a list of all the BNP members and their addresses? One of them was just down the road from me. Never figured out exactly who it was though.

Have to say for the past few weeks every thread seems to end in bitching or goes off subject to a subject that has been covered a million times. It does get boring if the same **** keeps getting said.

Cool well while I'm waiting for it to get its **** together, have you heard that Zynga is going down the ****ter? They've laid off a load of staff and discontinued some games. I have to say I'm loving it. They're not a nice corporation.

Doesn't look like you are picking up many responses on this post limit question, ptf. I do admit to loving the irony of your original post being moved for reasons essentially akin to it cluttering up the board! And in a way, the fact that you think adding it to this thread will limit the amount of opinions it gets I think answers your question... a thread limit might limit the opinion that gets aired here. Good or bad, as long as you are happy to skim through it until you get to points of interest, the opinion is a lot richer because of it (if repetitive). <ok>

What I wouldn't want it to come to is like West Brom's board. It has thread after thread of zero responses, and only around 800 members in total. About 224,000 less members than on ours. And I know they probably all post somewhere West Brom-dedicated, but even West Ham (who use KUMB) have over a thousand more members on their not606.

Never understood why they were supposed to be such a great stock. It doesn't take much of a study to see that all they basically do is rip-off everyone else's games and put them on Facebook. Anyone can do that. They were so dependent upon everyone else designing things for them to steal and people continuing to use Facebook. They really offered no additional value to anything that wasn't already there.

Facebook itself may be overvalued and fall flat on it's face. But at least Facebook is its own product/phenomenon.

What a shame.... they always seemed to come late to the party and once they realised something was popular they'd steal the idea for themselves.

    Boring. What are they discontinuing?

Well their business strategy was basically to pry on people who are unfamiliar with the gaming industry and who would actually enjoy simple point-and-click games they can access from Facebook. Then of course the key to their success is that they encourage users to spam all their Facebook friends in order to progress in the game, and it's a whole ripple effect. Yes, they've just ripped off other games, but they prey on the kinds of people who don't realise that. I'm afraid to say I have friends (and even their parents) who were suckers for this strategy and would spend all day on Farmville, just aimlessly clicking away in some sort of mindless stupor. Those were dark times for the gaming industry.

This is very, very true. My Dad wouldn't know the difference for starters, if he got sent an invite he'd most likely have a look.

He's currently addicted to some Football Management game on Facebook, 'Top Eleven' anyone? I had it for a while but quickly got bored of it.

I know that my Aunt's friend has several accounts with many farms on and each farm harvests a different crop and she trades their goods with each-other. For her, it's all very methodical and serious.

She spends real money on it because it takes her hours just to harvest. Sad times.

I still get the occasional friend spamming me with Texas Hold Em requests, but that's it. I haven't seen anything of Farmville in months. Can't wait until they go under for good, to be honest. Have you introduced your Dad to FM? That might help.

My Dad introduced me to FM!! He just finds it a bit too time consuming nowadays, we went halves on FM13, and I'm going to try and get him into FM Classic.

He's hooked on this game, my oldest brother plays it too, so that's how he got into it. It's reasonably good compared to most Facebook games.

He's built up his club, squad, facilities etc. so I can understand why. It's also very quick to play if you want it to be, and it's nice and accessible on his phone too.

So in that respect, I understand that.

I've been debating whether to get FM13 and try out Classic.

It's only partly because I'm old and no longer have the time. Mostly it's because the game just became a huge grind and not at all fun. At some point it became TOO realistic. Like I get that Adkins has to have a press conference every week where he says basically the same thing over and over, but that doesn't mean I want to do it. What's next, I have to remember to click on the "tie shoes" button before every game or else I fall on face and none of my players listen to my instructions? And probably I won't even know that's what happened until 89 minutes in the announcer says something cryptic like "Manager X seems a bit unsteady today?"

PTF, you raise a question that has lots of value. I don't think a post limit I the answer. I have thought myself about the recent issues and I will be a little bolder and say that the recent issue has been gomarchingin. Since his recent return he has wound several people up. At first I tried to engage in debate with him but that didn't work. I then ignored his posts (without using the ignore button) but his posts wield just get to me and I'd feel the need to respond. I would ask questions that would not get answered. He'd pull one fact from half a dozen and make it gospel. I would then ignore him for a few days but gain would find myself dragged brack in. A few weeks ago I actually said "sod it" I'm going to go for him and I was actually actively looking for his posts in an attempt to annoy him so much he'd get fed up. I then saw that I was making myself look as pathetic myself and being detrimental to my own credibility (if I had any in terms of posting content).

Your post has made me realise that I have been still doing daft posts. I'd like to apologise to this who have found my behaviour of late, at times frustrating and annoying around gomarchingin. I'm going to stop.

I refuse to use my ignore button; don't know why and maybe I should.

The shame to me is that he actually has some good opinion in amongst all the petty nonsense and the other evening I actually had a few posts conversation with him that we're a sensible debate; then he drifted off again.

We get WUMS and they usually go away in time or get banned as they over step the line. This chap knows exactly where the line is and stays the right side of it.

Apologies again to those who have been irritated in my part in igniting his fire.

I make no apologies to him for publicly putting him in tho post. I may eventually decide that the forum isn't such a good place to be anymore.
