Morning all, been for a few days at my Mum and came back yesterday evening. Not exactly a relaxing start - both boys had left their passports in their Mum's car at different points before we left, but to get youngest's it needed a call to her at 5.30 on Saturday morning. Once we got to Mum's, we had a reasonably relaxing rest of the day. On Sun, pie and I went to Wembley for the American Football. Different sport, but the Pats showed a lesson in controlling a game and finishing moves. I'd never thought that I'd see a performer in 2 venues that are on different ends of the spectrum - Katherine Jenkins sang God Save the Queen before the game but I'd seen her in concert at Fort Regent in Jersey a few years ago and that is the main leisure centre on the island but the large hall is sometime used for entertainment events. On Monday it was my nephew's 5th birthday but I only saw him in late afternoon as my sister and brother-in-law had taken him to London for the day. Then we came back yesterday afternoon but our flight was delayed for an hour.
Good day all, a bit warmer today and dry, but forecast looks as if there is rain on the way. I need a trip down the fields today while it is still dry, then off for my circus training with the physio.
I never realised you were an NFL fan Barry. I was gutted that i had to miss the game, but got to watch the highlights and was very impressed with the Pats. I got chatting to one of the wrestlers who is a Cowboys fan and it was quite insightful.
Hi Ak thanks for the glögg - I feel I could do with some. What is the recipe? or is it a family secret
This is a normal recipe for glögg not secret 24 cardamom seeds 2 cups slivered almonds 4 or more cinnamon sticks 12-24 whole cloves 6-12 figs 1 cup crystallized ginger slices, diced 1 cup candied orange peel, diced 2 cups raisins 1.5l burgundy wine 4 cups orange juice 4 cups pineapple juice 1 bottle brandy 2 bottles port wine 1 bottle sweet vermouth Crush cardamom seeds and put them into the pot. Add the almonds, cinnamon, cloves, figs, ginger slices, candied orange peel and raisins. Pour enough burgundy over the fruit mixture to completely cover it by about two cm. Save the rest of the burgundy for later. Bring mixture to a hardy boil for a couple of minutes, turn off the heat. Allow to cool. Cover. Let the liquid stand, unrefrigerated, for several hours - overnight or more than 24-48 hours is best, if you can. On the day of serving, combine the now-cooked fruit mixture, fruit juices, brandy, rest of the burgundy wine, port wine, and sweet vermouth into large pot. Heat the glögg, do not boil, for nearly two hours. The recipe makes a lot.
Another grey, chilly, wet day. It's windy too...the lawn I cleared yesterday is covered with leaves again. Trivial troubles compared to the eastern US I guess. Mrs H has made some soda bread and leek and potato soup, very warming on a day like this...
Afternoon/evening all. Nearly Friday and it is a day off for all here, as it is day of the dead. Dan if you want I can put the match thread up on Friday (let me know, I'll have time if you want)
Hey Mex. Sorry for the delay, I was driving up and down the A1 to training. Could you please I wont have time tomorrow.
Evening all...that was one hell of a day! Just catching up and then heading to bed, hoping for an easier one tomorrow!
Hæ öll. Cappuccino, coffee, tea donuts and fruit are on the bar. I have left the usual drinks today and still have glögg because there was a very big bucket. Chelsea did well last night. I was told that the footballer who made the allegation about Mark Clattenberg is a known trouble causer.
Cheers. Its rather busy at work currently and lunch time simply is not long enough Morning all. Its a deceptively sunny day here in Hemel. Its still rather nippy, even with the sun out. I am having to wear gloves in the warehouse. However, i do have some soup for lunch to warm me up.
We have -1C and the snow has stopped for a time, but we have a 6m/s north wind straight down the fjörd. I just saw a car slide down Kaupvangsstræti, the driver was trying to pass another car going slowly and just slid. The drivers should know about these things!
Morning all, wet and windy in rural France this morning, so will content myself with catching up with news items and drinking coffee. Tonight we have the fan"s forum and I wonder if some hard hitting questions will be asked and answered. If like me you cannot get a ticket you can still listen in. Taken from the official site: Our broadcast partners BBC Three Counties Radio will once again be hosting the show live from Vicarage Road and will have coverage across their usual frequencies. Alternatively, Hornets Player subscribers can listen in here via watfordfc.com. The show will begin at 7pm and will finish at 10pm, with other items of BBC 3CR sports news being broadcast in between the live two-and-a-half hours from Vicarage Road. The top table will consist of Head Coach Gianfranco Zola, Chief Executive Officer Scott Duxbury, Technical Director Gian Luca Nani, club captain John Eustace and Czech Republic international Daniel Pudil.
The FL sold the rights to Perform group who use local radio to broadcast matches through the Player system, but that contract does not include events such as this.
Oh you are funny OFH, Watford supporters & hard hitting questions ! Not judging by this forum. If the 1,500 expected for the open session are allowed on the pitch, hope no more than 1,400 are signed on loan.
Thanks AK for the recipe, I will give it a try but may make a smaller batch but using the same ratios. Will let you know the result. Made my own Baileys yesterday and it is very more-ish. Thanks once again
afternoon all! Brrrr it's cold...i hate winter! Wish i could listen to the Fans Forum tonight, but i'm out...if anyone can be bothered to note down the important bits, that'd be very lovely...no worries if you can't. Meanwhile, i just hope they all show up .
