I watched one of the most enjoyable games I've seen this season at the Mem. tonight. Our U18's showed good shape and skill as they progressed to the next round. Lockyer and Kamara impressed me, though the whole side played well as a unit and created a good number of chances. Jamie Lucas up front, and then Chad Douglas, were dangerous whenever they had the ball. I know it's a step up but there were a good number of players out there whom I wouldn't mind seeing involved in first team games. An entertaining game played in persistent rain. The pitch held up really well.
Lockyer plays at the back.....good last ditch tackler. I'm not convinced yet by Hunter. Loads of skill and step-overs galore ....but just put in a cross or score a bluddy goal! He was withdrawn in the second half...perhaps being saved for Saturday. I reckon he could become another Carayol...a potential match winner but lacking consistency. But he's still a young lad and is certainly an exciting prospect.
parkes is out this saturday vs sheff utd, who would you pick to play along side kenneth? lockyer or virgo?
Whatever happened to Ross Staley??? He really impressed me pre season, but seems to have dissapeared of the face of the map?? I think he picked up an injury - spose it could have been a bad one!
Difficult one. Virgo is supposed to be carrying an injury...he's more likely to stick Patterson CB with L Brown at LB. On the other hand I'd like to see a youngster like Lockyer get a go. I reckon Kenneth would look after him, and what a boost it would give to the other youngsters on the books.
Shame none of them will ever play for us maybe a few will make the bench but thats it there's been many a youth player over the last few years that have been built up to being the next best thing and then a couple of years later they end at Bath City.
