No I definitely feel sorry for Roy. He was seen as a safe pair of hands whilst the takeover was carried out, and naturally Fenway wanted their own. Kenny knew there was money and thought it was his big chance, but he blew it.
so he is in charge of kit, wonder if he takes it home to wash or does he have a washing machine in his office, do you think he cuts the half time oranges as well? I think it is him that is forcing NA to play 433 no matter what.
Blimey don't do that. By all means sack Adkins and bring in Redknapp/Benitez or someone else proven but not that old fool.
At least we don't have to fear di Canio. Can you imagine Cortese putting up with his nonsense last night?
You are probably right that it's coming from him, that interview with him would suggest so. I don't think it's "no matter what" though, despite what Adkins said in that interview we've played several different formations this season.
There is no point constantly mentioning Harry's name. You or anyone else. If Les Reed weren't to replace Adkins, he'd be instead remaining in his current position, and there is no way that Harry would work under him. He wouldn't want to, and I'm pretty certain that the club would know that Harry wouldn't fit into that type of set up. Portsmouth, Saints, Spurs. Why would Harry suddenly change, and now be happy working underneath a football man (or in Clive Woodwood's, a non-football man)? Love him or hate him. Board director or manager. I'm pretty sure that Les Reed is here to stay.
Is that such a bad thing though? Long term, it's a positive change and one that not many managers would do voluntarily for fear of the short term consequences. 433 is just the formation and Adkins is very much in charge of what we do with it. 433 nearly rescued a point against Spurs after a lacklustre first half playing 442. It was going 442 that threw the game away against Wigan. 433 got us ahead against Man City and Man U and steamrollered Villa. Let's not forget all that.
You come across as someone that would boo his own Grandmother if she stopped sending you any pocket money. How can I convince you that booing anybody is not a decent thing to do however you feel about things, it isn't clever and generally has the reverse effect to what you want it to do.
I am not saying 433 is a bad formation, all top teams in the premier play a variation of it, with only the teams playing non stylish football still playing 442(they know who they are). But it only really works if you have the correct players which we lack mainly in defence, you need quick fallbacks that can recover ground and at least one speedy CB incase the other team break. The buying of Ramirez set our stall out as he is really suited to the no10 role. Other than defence our midfield and forwards are sound and well suited to playing 433
We can buy the quick left back you speak of in January. Our defence isn't that good, so we need to retain possession to win games and 442 probably won't do it.
What Adkins calls 433 is more accurately 4231, which is what most of the top teams (in Europe in fact) play: http://www.whoscored.com/Graphics/139/Show/Most-Used-Formations-in-Europes-Top-5-Leagues-this-season
Adkins isn't going anywhere. All this conjecture is unfounded nonsense. I read it so much from people assuming he will go because we haven't started too well, conspiracy theories that he hasn't got the fully running of the team as a first team coach should have etc etc that I almost start to think/believe it myself. Cortese will give Adkins time. We play too well during spells of games (last night excluded) to not believe that with defensive reinforcements at Xmas, that we will start to improve. For that reason we are frustrating, we haven't been out and out rubbish so far (It'd be easier if we had been then we could just write off our chances of survival this season), we can play very well for periods - our potential even with a couple of tweaks to personnel is far greater than the teams around us in the league currently. Believe, have faith, stay united - we will get through this patch!
There was rumour at SFC not too long ago that Adkins was going to walk away in the summer but Reed talked him out of it. Odd.
Oh Jesus no , he is awful , Charltons worst ever manager , they still talk about him now , he cant manage and he cant coach , typical FA bureaucrat .
Was Henning Berg ever in the equation? i've not heard of him for about 10 years, almost forgot who he was.
My Grandmother passed away a couple of years ago. Anyway, cheers for judging me based on a clearly satirical and over-the-top post designed to be humorous. I have never, and will never, boo any person that is part of the Southampton team, be that managerial or on the pitch (bar Rupert Lowe).
I was being hypothetical, I've been an orphan for thirty odd years, never any sympathy, you have emphasised my point well, it isn't good to boo anyone and I find anyone making a joke about can be misunderstood, it just ain't Saintly, don't do it, nothing personal.
