We really do need to tighten up as the goals against column looks ridiculous i would play this team: ------------------------Boruc-------------------------- Clyne-----------Fonte---------Schneiderlin---------Shaw--- Puncheon-------------Davis---------Cork------------Lallana -----------------Lambert--------Mayuka---------------- Subs - Kelvin, Hooiveld, Chaplow, Rodriguez, Guly, Reeves, Yoshida I have heard Cork is near to fitness, i dont believe Yoshida/Hooiveld/Seaborne are good enough and vaguely remember Schneiderlin playing a few games at centre back. Fox is gash so time to give Shaw a proper run in the team. Boruc is picked as im sure he wont be left out after just two games although cant really see what gazzanigga did wrong. I would start 442 but if we changed to 433 you could still play same team what does everyone think???
Schneiderlin at CB is an accident waiting to happen imo. I'd play: Boruc Clyne - Fonte - Yoshida - Fox Schneiderlin JWP - Davis Mayuka ------------ Lallana Lambert
Jeez. Yoshida definately starts for me. What games have you been watching... the ones where he played out of position? I'd play similar team that played against Spurs. If Fox is injured, play Reeves or Shaw. I'd play Mayuka instead of Punch. I'd consider Ward prowse for Davis, but either or.
Yoshida is a centre back not only for us but at national level , he has not played bad when in his favoured position . The defensive frailaties I feel does not fully deserve to be put on his shoulders ,he is part of a bigger problem . So Yoshida at CB for me . Schneiderlin is 1) not a CB and in all honestly if he was a good CB he would be one and also playing players out of position is generally not a beneficial thing to do and 2) schneiderlin has argueably been a stand out player at points so far this season in midfield so I see no benefit of removing him from that position , especially just because Jack cork is back .
Agree with Jordi: Boruc Clyne Fonte Yoshida Fox JWP Schneiderlin Davis Mayuka Lambert Lallana Subs: Gazzaniga, Reeves, Hooiveld, Chaplow, Puncheon, Guly, Rodriguez.
I pretty much agree with Jordi too. Yoshida has been OK as centre half for me but not as a full back - not sure why a few people dont like him as centre half ? Just shows that if half a dozen people to go to a football match and then compare notes, you would often think that they had been to six different games ! Football supporters - who would have em !
-----------------Boruc Clyne-----Fonte-----Yoshida-----Reeves -----------Davis-----Morgan ----------------Lallana Mayuka-----------------------Rodriguez ---------------Lambert Same team that finished the Spurs match. We really need to show our intent for this one. Proper front 3, overlapping fullbacks, Lallana between the lines, the lot.
Gazzaniga Clyne, Fonte, Yoshida, Fox Davis, Schneiderlin, Cork Puncheon, Lambert, Lallana (Although I have a feeling that Rodriguez will start ahead of Lamvert after his goal...).
Been wanting that formation for several weeks. Not sure about the players not knowing who is available but that's the right idea. With Ramirez out, an attacking MC becomes a luxury. Out the players we have, Puncheon at this point probably offers the least. So take him out and put a more defensively oriented midfielder in there. Have that midfielder play BEHIND not ahead of the midfield line and serve as an anchor. I also think this makes it much easier for Saints to play out from their end. Knowing that Schneiderlin (or whoever) is designated as a central player means that the other two MC's can get to the outside and provide an avenue for passing down the flanks. As it is now, I feel that too often when Saints get possession there are only MS and SD to pass to, both located in a central position. And continuing to make short passes to the center when in your end is a recipe for disaster.
For me, the midfield controlled the ball better withJWP rather than Davis, its the quick 5 yard passes that win the midfield battle
No brainer for me. We need more protection for the backline and to allow full backs to push on. We need a box to box midfielder to link the forward line and we need a blend of pace and industry in attack. Crucially we need to start playing players in the right positions. This is my suggestion. Boruc Clyne Fonte. Yoshi. Shaw Davis Schneid JWP Mayuka. Lallana Lambert Cork can replace Davis and Ramirez can replace JWP or any of the front line. Throw in a couple more prem class centre backs and a better left back (unless Shaw makes the step up) and then add Puncheon, Tadanari, Rodriguez AND Sharp as backup attacking options and we should be ok.
--------------Gazzaniga------------ ----Fonte----Hooiveld----Yoshida--- -Clyne-------------------------Fox- ---------Davis----Schneiderlin------ ---------------Lallana-------------- ---------Rodriguez--Lambert-------- A sort of 5-2-1-2 with wing-backs providing width. Will never happen but I reckon would be effective.
Every bit of this, save perhaps Reeves...I'm not convinced that he's a left back at this level, and much though I dislike Fox, I'd go with the known quantity. And yes, we need Clyne to do a bit more romping; the width he provided in the first few games has been missing of late, and it has caused us to bog down when in attack at times.
4-2-1-3 ------------Boruc---------------- Clyne--Fonte---Yoshida-----Fox-- ------------------------------------- --------Davis-----Morgan---------- --------------Lallana---------------- --Mayuka--Lambert---Rodriguez-------
For me we should go with: ------------Gazza---------------- Clyne--Fonte---Yoshida-----Shaw/Reeves-- ------------------------------------- --------Davis-----Morgan---------- --------------Lallana---------------- --Mayuka--Lambert---Rodriguez------- Fox did not impress me last week and really hasn't much this season. Let's try someone else. If Richardson is back, he and Clyne should play. Mayuka needs a start. Puncheon ran into many dead ends last week and then had the ball stolen. Mayuka looked good when he came on. time to see if he can be more than an impact sub.
