This is obviously a sensitive subject so I'll just ask the question: could this board be improved if posts were limited?

The reasoning behind this is that there are certain people (and I'm sure you can all think of at least one) who post so frequently, or they post many throwaway comments which don't contribute a great deal to conversations, or they always take things the wrong way and derail threads with bickering, that they detrimentally affect the quality of debate. This problem seems to have reached epidemic proportions lately and I personally find most threads on this board now to not be particularly enjoyable to be involved in after a certain amount of time.

Now I'm sure some of you might feel that I'm guilty of many of those offences myself, we all have different tastes and I'm not making any value judgements about different kinds of posts or posters. Each person is free to decide for themselves what kind of place they want to make this, but personally I think a post limit would probably have the effect of making people think a bit harder about what they post, and crucially whether they post, for example when they are frustrated after a disappointing result or in a heated exchange when maybe discretion would be the better part of valour. If someone wants to use their limited number of posts to start fights or post nonsense then that would be their decision, but their impact would necessarily be limited.

It would be an answer, but I don't know if it's is the right answer (and it may not even be technically possible) so if anyone else has any ideas or if you think I'm talking out of my arse then feel free to say so. Or maybe there is no problem and I'm just being oversensitive. Tell me what you think.

Apologies if this is considered off-topic, it's technically not football-related but I feel there's a growing need to have this conversation!

Never had you down as a person who restricts people , thought you were a man of the people ?
Seems a tad totalitarian if you ask me , why simply not ignore ?

Some people do seem to write three different articles a day... which all relate to the same thing...

Restricting freedom of speech is never a good thing , and I wonder how many of the pro Cortese/Adkins faction want this ?

Let the people sing , and if you dont like it ignore .

Something like that , seems draconian and backward if you ask me , I never go to the mods over posts and I would never advocate a restriction on the number of posts as that would restrict discussion , unless you want to restrict views for a reason ?
The walls would come crumbling down on that over time anyway .

Every thread ends the same on here at the moment, so makes no difference to me.

On the contrary, it's not a restriction of freedom of speech at all. You could still post whatever you wanted (within the existing rules of course) but you would be limited with regard to how much of it you could post.

This may well result in more freedom of expression as it would reduce the posts which simply condemn others.

If you take away how do you enhance ? We are giving you less sunlight but the sunlight you will now get is brighter ?
Surely any restrictions on expression is a negative thing , you will only get more expression by more posts , how many posts per day do you propose ?

I'm not proposing anything merely posing the question.

I get the impression you disagree, fair enough.
