Welcome to ipswich Mick. Yes we may have some boring press conferences but his record of getting teams promoted from the champ is second to none! This is a great appointment who will put a rocket up our players bums and will get them playing their best COYBs
Warky, just a little tip, don't give it too large mate because you will look like an absolute twat if/when MM fails!! TBH your looking like a cocky know it all twat at the moment and it aint very attractive!!
Yeah and I bet you and Yorkie can't wait for him to fail just to prove your point! If that's what you call being a supporter I suggest you both **** off and support the scum up the road We are on the verge of appointing a new manager with a fresh mandate for a new start. Lets just give him the support and respect he deserves rather than trashing him before he has started!
Not really sure mediocrity awaits you with MM, I think he is a better manager then that. I also think he is perhaps the greatest person to be interviewed in the world.
Says the person who made such sweeping statements about our last manager regarding not supporting town while he's here and now a few of us mention how uderwhelmed we are and you disagree you (as expected) fly off the handle. You're as inconsistent as a women sometimes and the point Spanish was making was that of it does go wrong will you turn your back on your wonderful MM like you did with PJ? His record is strikingly similar to our previous manager, second to none it isn't....
Yeah and I bet you and Yorkie can't wait for him to fail just to prove your point! If that's what you call being a supporter I suggest you both **** off and support the scum up the road Oh dear Warky, this coming from a twat that wanted his own club to lose every week so the manager got the sack, that my friend is the lowest of the low so don't start mud slinging coz you my friend will lose!!
KOPR You make it up as you go along. I said I wouldn't be going to games so long as jewell was our manager and around 1,500 others agreed with me in not turning up. I have been consistent in my opposition to Jewell and I stand by every comment I have made. The point I am making is that we should all now get behind the new manager as he has a huge job in sorting out the absolute mess that Jewell has left us with. Holloway's record is not as good as McCarthy's and if you look at Holloway's record he has had more failures than sucesses. Just because he is good at telling a gag doesn't make him the right man.
Warky i cant speak for Lancs, although i have a feeling he is of the same opinion as me, but i most definately do not want MM to fail because that would mean relegation, i'm not childish like you where i wish for my team to lose to prove a point!! Saying that i think he will fail in the long run and as for your views on both MM and IH, i just can't see where you dream up these ideas from, Holloway is not just a clown, he is a bloody good manager, especially man management and is a great motivator apparently!!
Evening all. It's been a bit surreal watching all this unfold. I'm chuffed to bits that Mr Mick McCarthy aka Sam the Eagle is our new manager. Think about things from his side. He's achieved and got a record of promotion to the Premiership with different teams. To be fair, we're lucky to have him as manager the state we're in. He's risking an awful lot compared to us, we're in an awful situation and being honest, we're gash. If we only get security for this season then I'll bite your arm off, we'll still battle to stay up. Holloway would be nice but we'll come to that in the future when we're better and we're sick of Mick. 100% behind him. COYB
MM & IH are both good managers at this level. Also (as opposed to PJ) neither have been out of the game for a number of years. If it did come down to MM & IH as the last 2, then as much as I hate to admit it, I have to give Evans/Clegg some credit as either of the 2 would be better than other names that were banded about. The club has made its choice & I for 1 will be right behind MM. He has his work cut out as he needs to ditch those players that have no interest in playing for us & get 11 players on the pitch to play as a team. Good luck!!
rather happy with this! Definitely better for the situation we're in than Holloway. McCarthy will sort out the defence, and have us playing a decent brand of footy given time. He's VERY much a 4-4-2 man, so I'd imagine we'll be playing that Saturday at brum. 4-4-2 with 2 wingers, not sure how JET will fit into his plans if I'm honest, I cannot see McCarthy having a lot of time for him! I wouldn't be surprised if Mick signed a centre back or 2 on a free transfer either A S A P. We're in desperate need back there. Cautiously optimistic is how I view this appointment
Totally agree with this, not 100% convinced by him, but I wouldn't be with any manager. Hopefully the vast majority of fans can get behind him ang give him their full backing. Having a go at him and calling him a tw*t really isn't the way forward. If he gets the results, then that's all we can hope for.
I have to say I'm not enthralled by this appointment although it is rather funny watching the pots and kettles fighting!! I think MM is a decent manager and I believe he will get us out of this predicament. However I do not think he fits the club and he's no long ball merchant but he's not known for his attacking attractive football with flair players, something which concerns me and I would imagine he will pretty much completely change the personnel at the club, I can't see players like JET, Taylor, Martin, Chopra really fitting into his team, which could be a shame. He really needs to embrace the Ipswich way before he really convinces me that he is right for this club. Also after seeing Wolves last season they looked rubbish and were defensively appalling, they really looked down from the start of the season!! Something from the past also makes me think MM is a bit negative. I remember when Tommy Miller went to Sunderland, he was a decent attacking midfielder, who's strength was scoring goals and McCarthy basically turned him into a DM, which took what he was best at away from him and he was knowhere near the player he was on his return to Ipswich!! He also has a remarkedly similar record to PJ but without the charisma!! I view this appointment a bit like the Royle appointment, not particularly enthralled but at least he has managerial credentials (unlike Keane and many others we've been rumoured with) and I'm willing to believe he may embrace the Ipswich way and give him a chance. And if it goes the way it did under Royle we'll all be happy, although I still think despite Royle working wonders, whether he was a long term answer is a different manager, he did outstandingly with what he had got but based on his transfer record at Ipswich (didn't have much choice) and at his previous clubs he loved journey men, he didn't exactly mould teams, he was a wheeler dealer!! What has annoyed me slightly though, is that we didn't have the balls to appoint Holloway who I think would have been a much better fit for the club!! To me it just seems that ME and SC really do not get what this club is about and they only realise there mistakes when it's too late!!
Of course I don't want him to fail, I think we would be relegated whoever took over, I'd rather have someone that can take the club forward than pay a fortune for someone just to try to keep us up when the odds are stacked against it.
