if we sacked Bruce? Simple Question, what do you think? I personally would say yes, the fact that 'Bruce is a Geordie' lost some fans straight away and with the poor results, especially against Newcastle it seems some fans wont go unless Bruce is gone. Would we max out if we had an O'Neill? yes or no.
I asked this on here the other week, when we were doing OK though, I will find the link in a bit, but i got shot down and told no way, mine was the other way around though, is bruce the reason we dont max out gates (think it was my first thread/post on here as well). http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/32830-Dwindling-Attendances?p=163316#post163316 there you go.
you'll have an initial surge, then it's down to reults and nothing else, you could have mourinho in charge, but if results don't happen then neither does the extra supporters.
Just when you hear people saying that they arnt going next year because of Bruce and ive wanted him out since day 1 it makes you wonder...
we were 6th and we didnt, we also didnt sell out when bruce was taken on, only games i believe were the toon and liverpool.
people are glory hunters, we were 6th in jan and talk off europe, if we were 6th now europe would be likely, and a much bigger chance of attracting the not die hard fans... to suggest it's down to bruce is utter bollocks... if that's the case they are not true supporters...
Dodge territory there mate...... True supporters....... I have not been to a game for 6 years now....
True, but if he kept on churning out such Wilkinsonesk **** week in week out you'll not even be able to pay even "proper fans" to turn up.
there is no way safc supporters are not going because bruce is the manager, it's because of results, we've had some good geordie players, did they boycott then? would they boycott is we bought a carroll? who has just come on for lfc, by the way
Fans are fickle. We can tell that simply from our own topsy turvy season. Before Christmas Bruce was top man and now people are calling for his head. Managers to not bring in the crowds, as it has already been said, results and league position, cup runs etc do. If Alan Shearer took over and made Malcolm Mcdonald his number 2, we would all think they were great if we won the fa cup or qualified for Europe.
We wouldn't be calling for his head, but then its ifs and buts, let the facts speak, he is ****, we wont go forward with him, new manager new campaign few new signings increased crowds if the results follow and a strong Sunderland.
The only concern is if chopping and changing will make things worse. We may not be able to compete in the top 6-8 under Bruce, but we'll probably at the very least be safe.
Well, players like Cattermole and Bramble, who joined because of Bruce, maybe leaving, and the possibility of the players hating the new manager.
Please explain safe Jersey, I don't feel safe at the moment. Anyway we do not want safe we want the progress the 5 year plan was going to bring...
I think we could have significant crowds if we had a little sustained success of a period of 5 to 10 years as all the young kids want to support winners. And all the outlying areas would be red and white not skunk and white
We won't get the fans back from the initial 'honeymoon period' of the SOL, we had higher attendances in the championship a few years ago. 40k is our limit these days unless the Mags come to town, we only got 41k for Man Utd and 38k for Arsenal, for me it's just a sign of the times, football and the region on a whole. Anfield had plenty of empty spaces today as well, like a lot of teams in the premier these days.
