I've not had a proper cafe blow out for ages but what do you have to have before it is considered a proper fried breakfast.

    For me;

    HAS to have

    Bacon - well done
    Sausages - plural, not single
    Fried egg
    Baked beans
    Toast
    Tea/Coffee

    Can ALSO have

Chips - a must for some but not all
Scrambled eggs - instead of fried
Poached eggs - instead of scrambled
    Mushrooms
    Black pudding
    White pudding (when in Ireland)
    Square sausage (when in Scottishire)
    Fried bread
    Hash browns
    Bread & butter
    Juice

    NEVER have

Bubble & squeak - pikey food

Bacon minimum of 3 rashers, 2 sausage, 2 hash browns, minimum of 2 slices of black pudding, 2 fried eggs, heap of fried mushrooms, smallish dollop of baked beans, 1 grilled tomato sliced in half and finally a slice of fried bread. combination of sauce, ketchup on the bacon, hash brown, fried bread and black pudding, brown sauce on the sausage and mushrooms. Worcester sauce on the beans and tomato.. 1 large mug of tea.

    That is the perfect breakfast.

I forgot tomatoes <doh> . Wouldn't include them in my fry up as I can't stand them. What else did I miss out? There must be something else, each region seems to have its own take on the gut buster. Would a hamburger be included? I've seen it on some menus but seems rather excessive.

I have to admit I am also partial to a full American with buttermilk pancakes, streaky bacon, eggs over easy, US hash browns (more like diced spuds or a rosti than the triangle ones we get) with fresh juice and fresh coffee. International House of Pancakes was like a second home when I was in the States.

I'm against tinned tomatoes with breakfasts, you get too much seepage which contaminates anything crispy, thusly making it soggy. Beans are also dangerous for this.. when cooked at home i spoon the beans on making sure not to get too much bean juice on the plate thusly minimising contamination of crispy items such as hash browns or crispy bacon. If I am having a cafe belly buster breakfast then you have to stay on your toes and quickly use the sausage to create a barrier holding back the tomato juice and bean juice. If the cafe owner has f ucked this up by putting said items on opposite sides of the plate, then plate require a total reshuffle to minimise contamination.

I've never thought about this subject before.. <ok>

Haggis for breakfast?? bet thats quite nice, you lot slice it then fry it??
