Scarily I agree. The main political battle is a battle for middle ground, but I'd take boring central politics over extremes any day.

Surely that's a good thing? Politics shouldn't be purely ideological, it should be pragmatic and if the voters don't like it, well they shouldn't be so ideological either. As you say, people should wait until election time and research who would be the best part in their opinion rather than supporting a party blindly, likewise they shouldn't support an ideology blindly either.

I certainly do think it's a good thing.

It's a shame that most elections these days are based around who Murdoch Empire says is the best way to go...

I see where you are coming from and it has merit in this instant gratification World we live in , the politics and politicians have to sell us something every four years but thankfully we are not the Yanks and think a little bit more about who we are and what we are voting for and most importantly why .

So you're a...liberal conservative? Interesting combination. I suppose you can combine fiscal conservatism and liberal everything else.

I dunno. Financially I'm against neo-liberalism in it's purist form, however I do agree to some extent with the general principles but in a balanced, regulated way.

They would. Very impressed indeed, but then being Icelandic you'd expect them to be good!

    Hi chaps!

Can't believe I want Romney to win...Obama has been poor since his been in office and I think that Romney will get the economy going, but will be pretty poor when it comes to social and foreign issues.

He is doing a good think in wanting to invested in energies, be it coal, oil, wind power, solar and also, he wants America to be energy self-sufficient. He has good a brilliant record as far as I know when it comes to business and finance, when he was governor of Massachusetts he balanced the budget, so he knows what he is doing. I'm not his biggest fan, but I think he will do for the next four years.

You know he just bullshits, right? And for the record, under Obama, the banking industry has been regulated, the auto industry has been saved, the stock market has more than doubled and the unemployment rate has dropped.

Maybe, but better that than to continue on the same road.

The deficit has trebled as well, hasn't it? Obama is completly out of ideas.

Obama's foreign policy experience and his commitment to green energy tip the balance firmly in his favour. Plus, he owned Romney in the last debate.

"Spend money to make money" is probably an appropriate phrase for this situation. People focus too much on international debt, and don't really realise what it means. The unemployment rate is a much more important figure. The lower it is, the better the economy will do. Obama has done pretty well with employment, and he's got them on the road to better healthcare. He'll make massive strides in both if he gets another term.

That and the "I've always voted X, my Dad voted X and my grandad voted X" brigade. I boil when I hear or read this. I understand people can have a belief in a particular political or social system, yet they then only vote one way without assessing the candidates or what their parties proposals are.

There is only one area I will always vote the same way: my football club.

Did anyone see that Liverpool MD, Ian Ayre has apologised to the creator of spoof journalist "Duncan Jenkins" over the behaviour of Chang?
