It wasn't a comedy game you simpleton. He scored 3 good goals and deserves some credit for it.

After the first half i thought Chamakh was finished as a footballer, we were literally playing with 10 men. We'll see how he does in the next round now...

Some people just won't appreciate good talent.

Whatever people say about Walcott, he keeps producing the numbers, again and again. Already has seven goals this season. Also the way he sustained his speed for the whole 120 min was amazing.

Who said anything about him not deserving credit for this game?

Top3 PL team with half senior squad goes down 4-0 to Reading by half time and wins 7-5 by the end = comedy game.

A very entertaining game, but a joke of a game nonetheless.

So you are giving Walcott credit then ?

Glad you recognise his talent and contribution to this team <ok>

Hey, on that logic, i deserve credit because i said we'd win, though i did go for 6-3, not 7-5.

Uhm... This pretty much fits the pattern of what I said here: http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/167001-OX-new-deal/page2

he does well in these kinds of (IMO) joke games for a top club like today's, and poorly contested games where the opponents defensive organization is lacking, and teams against which we mostly counter attack (very rare).

I recognize that he is a player who can be utilized to good effect in very limited circumstances, mainly non-dense defenses, and teams we can counter-attack against. (and joke games in general, but that usually fits in the first case as defenses loosen up after the first 2-3 goals in joke games)

I think you have a general idea of what I'm referring to. If you have a better definition I'll switch to that.

There isn't an alternative definition. Every game requires full commitment and desire. Whether it's the Capitol One cup or the Champions League. That's why we got hammered in the 1st half, because we totally switched off. It was a proper game and Walcott saved our arses. Doesn't matter what the name of the comp is, when the players are on the pitch it's the same deal. Walcott played really well tonight and deserves a lot of credit.

Actually, in that other thread I referred to those as "games that snowball in either direction", which I guess is more appropriate.

Here's our manager's verdict of the game today: "The first set is for us, it was a tennis game today." <laugh>
