Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday 12th January is now going to be live on Sky, so the kick-off time has been changed to 5.20pm.
****s sake **** news for me, may just sit at home and watch on the box else I won't be home til about 9:30 / 10.
Isnt this asking for ****loads of Wendies to get massively pissed-up all day? I can see PC Plod putting his foot down...
Thats pissed me off because I wouldnt get home probably because of the late kick off. Looks like the box for me.
Serious question, not taking the piss here....is it better for the club to have a great atmosphere and no television audience or a decent atmosphere at the KC with an audience watching around the world?
Hopefully the club may lower the prices to try and attract people to watch the game rather than watch it. Just after xmas it coul be all too tempting for people to stay in and watch it if ticket prices are high. The 5-20 kick off time is a pain, but hopefully been on the box gives the team another chance to give a good account of themselves to the watching public.
Ideally we'd want an good audience around the world and a great atmosphere, but i can't see it happening. City having a decent atmosphere at the KC- it'll never happen. We appreciate we have fans from different countries around the world, who can't be at the KC on a matchday, & it's great they support the team, i think we just don't want to look small time on telly. Empty seats reflects poor on the club. Plus, it's less cash coming into the coffers.
You're not going to get a worldwide audience without it being a Premier League game, so at the moment, it's the atmosphere at the ground that matters.
It's debatable whether the missing few matchday tickets would amount to more of a loss than the profit from the bonus for being on telly, I know in the premiership you get a few hundred k each time youre on telly, no idea what you get in the championship.
That's about what I expected. Obviously I'm biased because we world fans only get to see a few games per season but really it's more important to have a great atmosphere helping the Tigers to three points. Thanks gentleman.
How about going into schools and offering them a special offer. For example the kids go free and adults £10 It would be nice to see the KC nearly full but don't see it happening
Agree mate. After hearing how City tried to get some of the players to Prinny Quay to sign autographs for the kids on their half term holidays, and it ending up in them coming in 2.30 hours later then advertised, after most of the families had gone home annoyed with them, i can't see it being a huge success. To be fair, that side of the club is pretty awful.
It's ridiculous how poorly organised this stuff is. The OSC player visits to various branches are a good thing for fans, but lately the players have been told they're meant to be appearing somewhere a day or two beforehand when they haven't heard a thing about it until then. Last week Tom Cairney had to go to Withernsea at the last minute because the club forgot to tell the player who was supposed to be appearing. How can something so simple go so badly wrong?
What about the Sky fee? Try telling it to Papa Allam cos I bet we make more money being on telly than adding 4k to the crowd.
