    Summary of NA's interview:

    • Not a fun night
    • Don't think it was a penalty
    • Isgrove was a bright spark and positive for the club
    • Jos got caught out
    • We set our stall out
    • We tried to be positive and utilise width and pace
    • I must take full responsibility
    • I made 11 changes, you can talk about it all day long - we played 48 hours ago and have to consider recovery process
    • Playing those with something to prove
    • Playing our youngsters to give them the chance to be 'right' for the football club
    • Of course this matters - we are playing for Southampton Football Club
    • I expect performances
    • After tonight, there will be consequences for that performance
    • It is my responsibility - that team should be able to win, but it is my responsibility
    • I tried to give some players without game-time an opportunity
    • People will always talk (about me), but stability is important at every level - we want to be successful
    • The chairman will decide what is right for the football club
    • Our relationship (NA and NC) has to be right and correct
    • We need stability but cannot keep losing games like that
    • We must address issues for the sake of Southampton Football Club and the supporters who have always been superb to me
    • All I want is the best for Southampton Football Club
    • I don't want to be anywhere else, I want nothing more than for SFC to be successful - and be successful together
    • I love Southampton Football Club

    Also was asked...

Blackmore: "In fairness, you're saying you accept responsibility - but there were a lot of senior players out there to take responsibility...?"

    Adkins: "Yes."

Hope this was of use to some of you.

Oh dear - the idiotic tribes will pick up on "Our relationship (NA and NC) has to be right and correct" as clear evidence that NA has nothing to do with anything at the club and it's actually run by Nicola and the Illuminati......

    Thanks.

He'll be hurting, probably more about how many players are just not playing for him at the moment. Is it something he's done, or a change of attitude at the club with new players coming in on big money and upsetting the togetherness we built up over 2 years?

What's your connection to the club DTLW, oh wise one? I'm being serious by the way, you seem to know the score in all things Southampton and I wondered how.

Consequences sounds ominous for Chaplow, De Ridder, Seaborne and co. I think it's probably fair enough, they're given a chance to prove they're up to the job and break into the first team picture and they have proved they aren't. Time to go in January for some I think.

I just can't understand how you can punish the players after that, those 11 players have never played a competitive game together before. We wouldn't have played that team last year against Leeds and expected to win, so why is it any different now? Our best 11 should have lost to Leeds last year if it wasn't for SKD's heroics, this lot never had a chance.

I have heard the same sort of things from Adkins about second-string players not taking their chances when they were given last season. Clearly feels that they have let him down badly.

I don't think not playing together is an excuse- they regularly train together so should know each other well. It is not a case of 'losing' but just not even competing. I agree with the sentiments that this is Seaborne/De Ridder/Chaplow's last chance- but who really felt they could produce in the Premier League anyway??

I think Nigel is more pissed off at the lack of heart and that it took us 72 minutes to register a proper shot on goal more than anything else.

We didn't play to his style, and there was a lack of drive and fight. That is what has upset him.

That's the point, everyone was in full agreement last year that Seaborne and De Ridder were not good enough, ok Seaborne was out with his head injury, but no-one was willing him back. Chaplow did a job, but being honest no-one ever thought he was going to set the PL on fire. They should never have been put in this position.

These sort of games should be used to give fringe players, backup players a chance to gain a bit of match fitness/sharpness. These clearly aren't (shouldn't) be fringe players for the first team Prem squad. Unless of course we are trying to put them into the shop window (If so that tactic failed horribly)

Put in what position? The chance to get in a side and stake a place in the starting eleven? Hardly seems like unfair treatment to me.

If you play this poorly against a Championship side (albeit a good one), then you probably shouldn't be on a Premier league team. JWP, Reeves, and Isgrove looked okay and they are very young.

I think most of those players should be thankful they got a chance as Adkins is taking quite the heat for giving it to them. Some will likely get shipped out because it turns out they are not good enough. Again-- hardly seems unfair to me.

Yeah this interview was just picked up from what I heard on the radio. Quick record of it, listen through a few times, list key points.

Nothing more to it on this occasion than listening to the wonderful creation that is, radio.

How can you be so certain? I think Nigel pulls the strings. In his department. Simple.

Not particularly. I'm not the one making the initial statement. Is it possible to actual have an adult discussion with you?

You are so petty and unable to justify or articulate your points correctly that I don't know whether you are having me on and I am wasting my time here.

If you "ain't wrong", provide us with the raft of information to prove it.
