From today. We got the result most of us expected.

But looking at the table, we are currently 6 points clear with 3 games to go.

    12 Newcastle 35 -2 41

    17 Blackpool 35 -22 35

    18 Wigan 35 -23 35

    19 Wolves 35 -23 34

    20 West Ham 34 -22 32

Now, if West Ham beat Man City then they'll replace Blackpool in 17th. This means that all teams will have played 35 ad we are still 6 points clear of the relegation zone.

These are the next round of fixtures for the teams mentioned above:
    Newcastle vs Birmingham
    Tottenham vs Blackpool
    Aston Villa vs Wigan
    Wolves vs West Brom
    West Ham vs Blackburn

Now, if we win we'll be on 44 points. Blackpool have a match that I'd expect them to lose meaning that they would stay on 35 points. Villa vs Wigan is difficult but I'd say there could be a draw at best for Wigan there. Wolves are on a dreadful run and West Brom look dangerous, especially Odemwingie(?) So again I could see them drawing. As for West Ham I'd expect them to beat Blackburn as they are useless. This will leave the table like this...

    12 Newcastle 36 0 44

    17 West Ham 36 -21 38

    18 Wigan 36 -23 36

    19 Blackpool 36 -22 35

    20 Wolves 36 -23 35

Which would mean we would be 8 points clear with 2 games to go. So by this time next week we could be safe. Made me feel a bit better.

^ In theory. But after the last two performances I'm not taking anything for granted.

Yeah, but hopefully that performance will give Pardew a kick up the backside.

I remember when a win against Birmingham was expected and necessary. A drubbing was received instead.

It's hard to know what to expect with this club. I wouldn't surprise me if:

    1. Llanbias and Ashley took out player registrations and started up front and in goal.
    2. For 'tactical reasons' only nine players would take to the field next week.

Of course, it is entirely possible that both could happen but that's even too far fetched for Newcastle.

I made a post after the blackpool game saying the same thing. Either Pardew didn't agree or he missed with his kick!

got to put some fresh faces in , besides vs manutd we been shocking last few games , ameobi is dreaful no movement imagination creativity firsttouch strength , give ranger kuqi or even young airey a chance , just someone with a bit of movement to give barton/jonas/nolan options to pass or cross too cos atm they are so stationary we get in final 3rd from a run from jonas/cross from barton theres no one and nothing to aim for for them

Looks like our season's fizzling out with nothing significant to play for. Make a few changes to the side to freshen things up and do whatever we can to get them fired up for Birmingham, who we should really be beating.

Birmingham will be no push over they're fighting for survival, Wolves couldn't beat them today even though Birmingham were down to ten men.

Pardew`s after match talk ` We couldn`t find the impact to get back in the game ` you could stick dynamite up a few jacksies today and get no impact.

Birmingham will be a tough game. They need the points more than us. If they come with the desire to win that I would expect and we show the desire we have in our last two games we will be lucky to come away from the game with a point.

Problem is though we don't exactly have alot of options for resting players do we? Not without reducing the "on paper" value of our team.

The thing is we could play the kids but wed be in danger of the FA charging us with playing a weakened team

We do have options though. Ferguson is pushing for a start, there's Vuckic if he isnt injured, Ranger, Raylor, Saylor or even Kuqi.
