Good afternoon Jacks, Liverpool fan here.

As i'm sure you're aware, Liverpool play Swansea City tomorrow in the fourth round of the Capital One Cup. Over on the Liverpool board, i've done a match thread for tomorrow's game which includes the latest injury news and a preview of the game.

Would be a good if a few Swansea fans could pop over to that thread and give some views on the likely team you'll put out, your chances of picking up a result, thoughts on Brendan Rodgers etc. (I'm sure that last point will attract some 'strong' views from yourselves... <whistle>)

    Here is the link: http://www.not606.com/showthread.ph...d-Liverpool-Vs-Swansea-City-(Capital-One-Cup)

Tough game for us if we play with most of the players that brendan will know and he will deal with easily.....I want to play our strongest side and then we would have a chance and a more even game...until i know what side ML is going to select then i cant possibly say how the game will go....

Posted my thoughts over there. Not optimistic, I'm afraid. We just don't have the same strength in depth that Liverpool can offer. We might get something but, honestly, I doubt it.

Tate, Monk and Gower against Liverpool's speedy and talented youngsters? :( I just can't wait! Then there's Tiendalli with no game time at all against top opposition and the same for Jazz. Tough game for us.

Think your being a tad pessimistic Ivor if you don't mind me saying! I think we will field a strong side, and Jazz will be fine at RB, and Dwight Tiendalli, will be raring to go, to make an impact. I just hope that Williams is ok, otherwise we will end up with Tate in there, and that would be disastrous........<ok>

Hope you are right, Dragon. Trouble is, when I've seen the Pool youngsters play they do it at a pace that will test any defence. I sometimes think they are better than the first team because they play without fear and restraint.

For me, that is the strength of Liverpool; they have some really talented youngsters from whom Rodgers will derive a lot of benefit. Our firsts against theirs, I see a tight game that we are well capable of winning. Their "seconds" against ours, I see them winning easily - unless Michael Laudrup has been teaching them things I don't know about!

By the way, Reading hammering Arsenal 4-1 at half time. If Reading win this it could be bad news for us in the league given the confidence they will get from it. I'm hoping that Wenger is going to chuck the porcelain at half time and get his useless gits performing to win the game. Almost impossible but, if they did, that would really hit Reading's confidence going forward. Nothing against Reading but I see them as one of the teams we must finish above in the league.

Ivoralljack, have a pint or two and try to cheer yourself up. You're doing my head in with all this pessimism tonight.

Don't confuse realism with pessimism, Campionijack. I have clearly stated that if we play our best team we are well capable of winning. I don't think that is the case if we play a second string; even against their seconds. It's nice to be optimistic but not blindly so. Liverpool have an extremely talented squad of youngsters who, in my opinion, are far better than what we can offer as backup. As Dai would say, FACT.

Doesn't mean to say we can't win because anything can happen in football, witnessed by that incredible game I've just watched between Reading and Arsenal. Come to that, Laudrup just might confound us by selecting his first choice team, in which case we would have a decent chance of progressing.

Now I am going to have that drink, not to cheer myself up because I'm quite happy thank you very much. I just like it.

Ivor I doubt very much that Laudrup would put out a second string side for this fixture, there's too much riding on this game, and I don't see this as a traditional cup setup for us, for obvious reasons, besides the win will give us momentum going into the Chelsea game. I'm sure Laudrup knows the importance of beating his predecessor tactically too! Hope that beer was good last night lads...........................<cheers>

Fact of the matter is that we don't have much of a second string at this level (i.e. versus another Prem side). We're not going to be able to rest people as most of our capable reserves are already in the line-up out of necessity. I refer to Tiendalli or Jazz. If Ash W doesn't play due to injury then we are looking at a real problem unless Ki plays in defense, which could open up a slot for Augustien .... actually I quite like that idea.

    Tremmell

    Tiendalli Chico Ki Davies
    Augustien Britton
Hernandez / Dyer DeGuzman Routledge (Edwards if Routs is not fit)
    Michu

That's a pretty solid lineup without Ash / Rangel - good enough to give Tremmell some protection and ease him in. We will be depleted on the bench in defense.

I hope Laudrup isn't persuaded to fall back on Tate or Monk, because that would be fait accompli, as far as I'm concerned!...<ok>

Is he going to trust the same senior players that voiced their concerns to play against the former manager whom they still in love with ??

Professional pride should dictate that every player here under Brenden will want to go out and smash Liverpool, with some of our lot and the recent stories im not so sure .

Its a difficult one, we will find out soon enough though :)
