NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!! Touch one hair on Shogan's tatty head and I'll have to play Edith Piaff for a whole week on the Music Thread
Could do with a theme night sometime soon, best ever year in music, something like that? Get all the usual suspects and Drogs back for a late night.
Sounds good but Dave might not be talking to me now and I'll just wind Drogs up by comparing the Suarez and Terry cases
Suprised Gerrard has come out with this - although don't know if it's been taen out of context? It might have been said already bu stats are misleading - Everton had more possession and made more passes, however you could make 10 completed passes between your back 4 under no pressure and then when attacking hit the ball long. That way, your stats may suggest you passed short more, but only when you were going no where, and the only way you attacked was by going long. I personally felt, first half they didn't when the left winger was all over Wisdom, but in the 2nd half when he went off and we changed formation they went longer a lot more.
Just a bit of post-derby wind up surely Always good to put the long ball merchants in their place after a gripping game (where we were robbed).
More to the point, Sahin, and to some degree Suso, looked utterly bewildered in a derby maelstrom. They all start off 100mph - nothing to do with Stoke, Wimbledon or any other type of football. Even Shankly said you have to earn your right to play football, and this is a derby. Like united games - **** pretty football (at least at first) and get control. Disappointed because when Stoke DID kick us from pillar-to-post at Anfield we stood up to it and Brendan made a point of not whinging. This sort of puts the message over that we don't like it up us - so expect every team to stick it up us! Overall, been impressed with the ****e this season. They do play good football mostly, and are showing the signs of having a settled, evolving side and manager, none more apparent than in the unglamourless Osman being a star performer. I don't think Brendan could go amiss in learning some of Moyes' pragmatism when it comes to derbies and games like United and City. But I agree with one point - Moyes tried to unsettle Luis a-la-Fergie with the press briefings, and his own hollier-than-thou captain made him look a twat.
So you'd be happy if in ten years BR has a derby record similar to that of Moyes? I think he's won 4 out of 23 games hasn't he? Lost 12 or 13.
Alright Donga, honest post that mate & I agree with you. Moyes takes some stick from a section of Blues for his pragmatism in derbies though, there's a section who think he should take the gloves off & give you lot some hammer, but when you've got SG digging a pit for himself like he has today, then I reckon Moyes has it right.
As most of my family were blues I've got a soft spot for them. I think they play decent stuff - you play to your strengths and if the long ball is effective, sometimes you have to play it. I'm happy for them to do well, as long as order is restored and they finish below us.
Gerrard showed know better than to compare Everton to Stoke. Its outrageous. How dare he insult Stoke like that!
They wouln't br interested in winning it anway as remember it is only a "mickey mouse" trophy. Everton have got far more worthwhile trophies to win as shown by them winning a grand total of one in over quarter of a century.
