How much do you think we will have ? And do you think we will have to sell as well to generate money ?
I don't think outlay for transfer fees will be an issue. I do think Cortese will insist that some wages are taken off the books. This will mean that a three or maybe four of the fringe players will probably go. My guess would be £3m on a left back, £5-8m on a CB and £2m on an experienced, older midfielder.
I would say we will sacrifice and sell Sharp and Barnard , but to be honest they may be a good insurance policy , I would say £12-15 Million minimum for defenders but that doubles or near to it with wages .
Sharp already on season loan deal, so why would Forest pay now? Maybe someone else could come in for him, but that may not be possible depending the terms of the Forest loan deal. Barnard going is not an issue and only fair on him. I'm thinking there is no need for De Ridder, possibly Chappers (if we sign an experienced CM).
I think quite a few will leave, Barnard, Dickson, Seaborne, Forte possibly De Ridder and maybe Hammond and Chaplow. In terms of coming in 1 LB, 1 CB and 1 DM. I don't think there will be much money available though even with all of the above leaving, unless we somehow get miracle fees for them.
I forgot the ones in bold. Add those to my list too. Hammond is unlikely to go permenant while on a loan; why would Brighton cough up cash for a player who will be there for the rest of the season anyway.
Well it won't be £50-100m Baz!.....seriously though, i'm sure that there is a "war chest" set aside for essential transfers in January. I would say a minimum of £10m on the defence is probable although I can't profess to being "ITK" when it comes to the club's finances.
why would we look for an experienced midfielder? first of all Davis is pretty damned experienced and if we need a bit more muscle on the bench then we have Hammond. Secondly older players generally do not play how we want to play (unless Scholes wants to retire somewhere warmer than Mankland)
I think what was shown in the summer is that if the right target is identified, then we will stump up the cash for them. Our bids for Hooper and Butland in addition to the fees paid for Rodriguez and Ramirez showed there was plenty of money available and I'm sure they'll already be looking for defenders as a matter of priority, and if the right player is available in January we will pay whatever is necessary. You have to bear in mind that next year the TV money in the PL is going to pretty much double, it's worth spending more than usual in order to ensure we stay in the league. If we don't then it will cost more in the long run and I'm sure Cortese is well aware of that.

That's priceless GMI, do you really believe you are the only person who knows that, or has mentioned anything like it on this board?
I personally can only see us bringing in 1 or 2 permanant deals and maybe a couple of loans. NC wont want to spend big on players that are being bought in to purely save us from relegation, not if he is planning on bigger things. The quality of available players in jan is poorer unless you pay over the top and we all know NC doesn't pay anymore than what he thinks someone is worth
Chilco , I love you , you know I do but no I dont think many people have been saying this , they have been saying that the sun shines out of Corteses arse and also Adkins .
So in short we are ****ed unless there are 3 other teams worse than us , well that maybe the case but staying up not on skill but the fact that we are not ****test is hardly aiming for the stars is it . You can imagine our Nige on an interview from last year "So congratultaions Nigel on a wonderful promotion , you and Nicola must be already planning an assault into the transfer market ready for the start of season ?" "No Mavis there are already 3 ****ter sides in there and we will let it roll"
well not quite what i said, i know what i think we need but i don't think thats in the plan, i am merely speculating about what i think will happen and if we get 2 permanant and 2 decent loan deals only spend say 10-15 mill and stay up i think NC will be satisfied. NC will not be held to ransom we all know that, are there going to be any quality premier league experienced players available in Jan that arn't being sold for over the top valuations. The way we've started 17th ****est is a good season
I agree he'll be looking for long-term players first and foremost, but the signing of Billy Sharp last season has turned out to be exactly what many people thought, a cheap signing of a proven championship player in a position we were weak in to help push us over the line. I said at the time he wasn't good enough for the premier league, but he did a good job for us and I'll always be grateful to him that was able to do exactly what he was brought in to do. Now he's been shipped out which proves he was a short-term signing with one objective in mind, so I wouldn't rule out a similar move this year.
It won't matter . We will to far adrift for any signings to make any difference IMHO . I fear we are going down . It's who will stay next season that matters IMHO .
