This won't be easy. I'll go for Marshall Connelly & McNaughton fulll backs Hudson & Turner centre backs Bellamy, Mutch, Whittingham & Noone midfield Maynard & Mason up front That means no Taylor, Kim, Smith, Helgusson, Cowie, Gunnarrson, Velakonjia and others.
Marshall Connelly & Taylor full backs Hudson & Turner centre backs Bellamy, Smith, Whittingham & Noone midfield Maynard & Mason up front Bench: McNaughton, Kim, Mutch, Helgusson, Cowie, Gunnarrson, McPhail or Frei in the short term.
but what about a good starting line-up and a seriously impact bench: Marshall Taylor and Connolly Noone Whittingham Smith and Gunnerson, Helgusson Cowie On the bench: Bellamy Mutch Kim Mason Frei Velakonjia Gestede Love to play a team to a standstill for an hour then bring that lot on. And others!!!!
Xnaggs - are we going to play with just 9 players to give the opposition a chance? You missed out the centre backs I don't think I would go with dropping Taylor for Kev at present. Tayls had one of his best games since joining us last Saturday. Could be something to do with gaining confidence from having someone as good as Kimbo in front of him? Someone yesterday said Kimbo didn't cover back enough - perhaps he reads the game so well that he only goes back when he knows he needs to? For me it would be: = Marshall Connolly and Tayls Hudson and Turner Noone, Whitts, Mutch and Kimbo Mason and Maynard up front Bench: Lewis (sensible to have a keeper there), McNuggs, Gunnar, Cowie, Bellers, Helguson and Frei (while with us) No place for Smith, Kiss, Velikonja, McPhail, Gestede and Ralls (and anyone else I can't think of) It's tough at the top.
Who needs centre backs, when you can attack like us. rofl. I actually thought it was a foregone thing, Hudson and turner, no question for me, despite Connolly's performances
Pro's and cons with a few selections. I also believe that the 'best XI' will depend on the oposition, and not from a defensive position. MM targeted the Burnley LB which is why he put Noone on the right. I think we'll see more of that as the season goes on. Also, we need to look beyond the XI as we've seen what players from the bench can do. As the season goes on the view will also change as players run in and out of form. I'm sure we'll see the old Kev before April. Back to the exam question though and on current form: Marshall Connelly Huds Ben Taylor Noone Whitts Mutch Bellamy Maynard HH KimBo, Rudy and Mason as the impact players from the bench.
Marshall Connelly Huds Turner Taylor Noone Whitts Smith Bellamy Maynard HH Lewis, Kev, KimBo, Mutch, Mason, Conway, Gunnar (This could well change by tomorrow though)
He'll get his game time as not everyone will be fit all the time. Just shows the headache MM has in the run up to match day. DJ used to worry as to who to put in, MM has to worry about who to leave out. Smith will start a lot of games, but I don't see him as a game changer from the bench. We're more likely to go Smith with KimBo from the bench rather than the other way round. At the moment, I don't see Smith getting in in front of Noone or Bellamy. ARRRRGGGHHHHH. Can't we go back to having a thin squad, selections were far less of a headache!
