To be really honest I can't undertsand what you have said here; it's just words. Shame as last night you posted some coherent stuff. I'm not being rude just honestly telling you that I don't understand the above (apart from the bits that are the same old stuff from before). Could you be clearer please?
Even if true, the loan deal may be cancelled because of Boruc incident. Also doesn't mean Gazza is on his way out, loaning out a young player is normal practice.
Simon Peach reporting that Saints statement to the press says that the incident involving Boruc is being investigated and severe sanctions are now being considered. Boruc will be given a decision on his future at Saints before the end of the week. Peach's Tweets:
I am even more amazed that you are judging him after ONE match ! And if you want a goalkeeper to ' organise them from behind and be able to take the stresses and strains of conceding goals without it effecting their confidence ' then why not keep playing Kelvin as he certainly fills this critera. As far as i am concerned i have seen no improvement in the goalkeeping since Kelvin was dropped - Paulo G is obviously a good young keeper who has some plusses over Kelvin, but not in the areas that you state above. It is my opinion that Boruc is no better than Kelvin - but if they continue to pick him then i hope that he proves me very wrong. I hope that Kelvin gets a game tonight and performs as he did last season at Elland Road.
ok, that's fairly simple. I believe (my opinion only) that Nigel thought that Kelvin would do a job for a season, or at least half the season with a young one being signed to come in behind him. We went for Butland, and rumoured to be at about £3m. He had a good Olympics and a lot of media covergae, so we allegedly bid somewhere near £6m. They still turned it down. Cortese is a business man and there comes a time when you have to say that a club values a player too differently to you and move on; if you don't the club ends up financially in trouble. We wanted a young keeper, not necessarily a "straight into the first team one." We turned to Gazza as he apparently was of a similar level to Butland and had played about the same number of games at the same level and was deemed "better value" (not cheaper, but better value). The season started and after three games the window came and went. In those three games, Nigel felt that Kelvin was not up to the task or installing confidence in the defence (I know he saved two pens, but the rest wasn't good). He drops him for Gazza who does ok in his three games. Meanwhile, Nigel is thinking "Am I going to use a young, inexperienced keeper in the Premier League behind a defence that is now loing shaky?" He finds that a very experienced keeper who has shown that he is a good keeper (no matter what anyone says, you don't play Champions League or Serie A if you don't have something) is available out of contract and decides the personality issues are worth a "gamble" to help shore up the defence. Remember Nigel was a goalkeeper. I believe that this is a fairly sensible decision. We now have a goal keeper who "on his day" can be very, very good. Nigel's job is to manage him correctly now and get the best out of him. He has played two games, FFS. The decision to me makes sense and I can't understand all the drama around him.
Saints taking Boruc's little tantrum very seriously will be the same as guly's drink driving: back playing immediately.
That's my point, I'm not judging him. I'm saying that he looks like he could do the job. Only games and time will tell. What I think we have to accept is that Nigel has decided that Kelvin isn't up to it, else he'd be playing. I am prepared to bow to Nigel's better goalkeeping knowledge. I don't know if Boruc will do the job, but can accept that Nigel thinks someone other than Kelvin needs to. That's not knocking Kelvin, it's just reading the situation. May all be irrelevant if Boruc is shown the door.
Yay, I was getting bored of all the old off-pitch rumour monging so it's good to have something new to speculate wildly about.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20138972# Can't see Gazz going before the investigation concludes if at all!
Firstly Celtic sold Boruc, he wasn't released. Secondly, I don't think Boruc was "released" by Fiorentina either. I believe he was offered a new contract, which he turned down as he wanted to play in a better league.
What do you mean 'doing his best to make a story'? If Saints have released a statement, which they have - also Sky have mentioned it, on Boruc - then why can he not tweet about it? He's getting a discussion going on the internet, but obviously no one can be critical of the club or anyone involved. Some of you are so precious.
Think this Boruc investigation is quite a clever move from saints. Takes a lot of the limelight and pessure off Nigel.
I think the club is taking this especially seriously because it involves the fans. He could have hit anyone by kicking/throwing something into the stand. I know he probably reacted to disappointment/taunting but this is sadly part of the game. He should have more self control. What the club does depends on how serious it was (violent kick or a light lob) and, as with the Cantona incident, how important the player is to us. The latter shouldn't be an issue, but in a commercial world it is.
OK fair enough FLT. Bit of an odd thing to do on Sat if he is/was hoping to get into the side long term - couldnt see what went on from our end of the ground but shame if he has ballsed up his chance to prove ( to me !! ) how good he is.
Exactly. It's an opportunity for the club to appease the fan base by being seen to take action. From what Blackmore said, Boruc has been told he is not travelling to Leeds, although whether he would have played anyway is another thing. It's about 'image' and Cortese seems quite keen on that, especially as you say when it involves the fans.
