According to the guys over on SaintsWeb, Paulo is going on loan to Bristol City ... how true or not I don't know but it's a move that would suit everyone Also named in The Sun: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...ws-in-brief-from-across-English-football.html (Which is probably where they got it from tbf but hey ho)
If true I'm not surprised. Boruc appears to be first choice now and Kelvin has been on the bench so this is the obvious move to make. Gazza will learn more playing games at a lower level than sitting on our bench.
This is a great move, there is no point Gazza sticking around if he isn't playing and Gazza will know that if he plays really well he can play himself into the team. Although Gazza did nothing wrong and his distribution was excellent we have not seen him everyday at training etc. so it is hard to judge who is the best keeper. Hopefully we see him tonight though.
Which begs the question, why has Paulo gone from 1st choice, to 3rd, to not even being at the club....
£2m allegedly. Although that would be built up of instalments I would've thought. GMI for once, I am agreeing with you. Mad decision. What did Paulo ever do wrong? Very strange decision if so.
I've not questioned too many of Nigels decisions so far, but theres mistakes a plenty regarding the keeper situation. The back four getting hammered for their mistakes, but swapping the keeper as much as we have done will just add to their worries.
Boruc is a very good keeper, although he hasn't shown it yet. Trust me, by the end of the season, he may win us six, seven points on his own.
I too find this odd. From what i have seen of Boruc over two games i just cant work out why he is first choice over either of the other two. However surely the manager, or management team, knows better than me and any of us armchair managers typing our thoughts on here !
It is fairly straight forward really. Nigel sees Boruc as number one and there is no need to stifle paulo's development by sitting him on the bench. Kelvin can do the bench job. How you can question selecting Boruc is beyond me. He's getting back into playing, is hugely experienced, oozes confidence/arrogance and will organise and boss the hell out of that defence.
Although I did say he would likely move out on loan when we signed Boruc, to be shot down by everyone
I agree that Boruc should be selected. But, Nigel spoke about how you keep the #1 shirt until you deserve to lose it. I don't think Paulo deserved to lose it when he did.
Boruc is the best option of the 3 at the moment. No doubt about it at all. Gazzaniga, at his age, will always have a big error in him. Against Villa he had jack **** to do, apart from pick the ball out of the net once. Against Fulham, he made a brilliant save and can't be faulted for the goals he conceded and did little wrong but against Sheff Wed in league cup he looked shaky coming off his line. A loan move to a Championship club will do him good. He has only played league 2 football before this season. League 2 to PL is far too big a step, especially for a keeper imo.
Unfortunate fe him to be dropped as he looked like he was settling in well and I really like the look of him. However boruc does seem to of somehow become #1 and I hope he shows why. Good luck to gazza if he does go on loan.
