I have to support my driver and I think that Alonso has a shot at winning if the Ferrari form continues to improve. He continues to extract every last bit out of the car and I think given a bit more performance could challenge Vettel. I'd love to see those 2 duel it out on track. As impressive as it is to see Vettel dominate like he does from the front it doesn't make for very good viewing. And besides, I'd like him to at least have someone mount a serious challenge against him because he is in cruise control right now. Wouldn't mind seeing Kimi back on the podium either, he deserves some more points for his driving this season.
Well.... sorry to burst your bullshit bubble. You have not the slightest clue about how much hard work this is for Vettel. Sounds more like you are trying to downplay Vettels enormous efforts. Maybe you did this not intentional, but anyways. Utter nonsense in my view to think Vettel is in cruise mode, he is on maximum attack, especially this year.
Seems I hurt your feelings. C'mon man, he has had a 10 or more second lead in the past couple races. I'm not saying that it doesn't take skill for him to do that, but if he is that far ahead of everyone else than he is in control. But in all seriousness I feel like there is some anger there for you to say you are bursting my "bullshit bubble". Did I personally offend you in some way? Its not as if I said anything ridiculous here. I never said that Vettel was bad or something. In fact I've defended him already on here before in saying that he is a superb driver. So I don't know how pissed you actually were in typing that out, but calm the **** down man, I'm not here to start petty internet arguments.
Nah, not a personal agenda. I am just fed up with all those people who are trying to downplay Vettels part. I don't know how long you are watching F1, i do for about thirty years now. And to call a ten second lead dominance ist just plain misinformation/misjudgement. Maybe you should check out some results here: for example http://www.formula1.com/results/season/1994/100/ or http://www.formula1.com/results/season/2001/44/ and so on and so on...
Well I'm not trying to downplay Vettel's achievements so I think we can scratch that. My point is - whether you think 10 seconds is a big lead or not is irrelevant - that Vettel is going to win from that position unless something goes wrong with his car. He is a master at controlling the pace from the front and no one in the field is going to catch him when he is in that zone. Sure its not one lap ahead or something like that, but you're going to tell me that his 20+ second win in Japan wasn't dominance? Or that in the past 2 races his near 10 second point leads aren't pretty dominant either? The fact that he has that much daylight behind him I think speaks for itself. He doesn't have to be way ahead to have a dominant performance. When you lead every lap of a race, I think its safe to say that you were the dominant driver. Also been watching for 7 years now, so I'm not a newcomer to the sport. Besides how is that relevant? The driving is different now than when you first started watching I'm sure. Maybe the 1+ lap leads are a thing of the past now and 10 seconds is a nice margin.
Agree with Zero on this one, anyone who thinks the last three grand Prix have not been totally dominated by Vettel needs their head checked. Got nothing against Vettel but he has single handily made the end to the season an anti climax. While I have drivers that I support just like others on here, first and foremost I want to see exciting and close racing which we simply have not seen since lap 23 in Singapore at the front.
Well these engines and gearboxes have to last a good part of the season now, maybe 10 seconds is just now the required gap to protect from any charge that you can start to look after your equipment more. Seb could of likely pulled another 15-20+ if he wanted, but Mark is a good example why he doesn't have to do that when he gets a big enough gap early on. If Alonso wants to beat Seb he has to qualify better as in India he had a car good enough to get 3rd in my opinion. The Ferrari has great race pace but if you allow Seb to get clean air after 1 sector he will leave anybody to dust as that is what he does best, the first stint... The RB8 is stronger and weaker than it looks, in clean air in Sebs hand it's a major force to be reckoned with, but if it starts being husseled with a more reliable car and get's stuck in the field with it's coanda exhausts and low top speed it's dead meat like Kimi. The Ferrari's and McLaren's are not far behind but the RB8's have to remain 100% to keep it that way since a KERS failure for Mark stopped him getting 2nd and almost lost 3rd.
Well I think even Seb admitted that day McLaren and Lewis just did a better job managing the situation with the tyres as the McLaren was slightly kinder to it's tyres and the RB8 was again poor in top speed.
Abu Dhabi, the Hamilton/Vettel track 1 pole for Hamilton, 2 for Vettel. 1 win for Hamilton, 2 for Vettel. And even if Hamilton and Vettel hadn't had thier mechanical faliures in 2009/2011 it would still have been Hamilton and Vettel who would have won. 2010: Vettel and Hamilton 1 - 2 Erm, I think Button!
This. I voted for Vettel. No time for any of the teams to catch Red bull so he will win from pole, leading every lap, again.
For those who were hoping for a rainbow podium - an interesting fact that suggests otherwise! https://twitter.com/mbrundlef1/status/263139767674368000
