He makes a fill in left back at best and seeing Rose play there as a very good left back, it shows Colbacks limitations in that role up even more. Colback is a poor mans Cattermole and the only position he can play is defensive central midfield. He isn't a bad player but if I had to choose between Catts and him then the Captain wins hands down imo.

We can ill afford to get all sentimental when it comes to Jack and he is certainly not the weakest link in the team but he isn't the answer either.

    Weakest link is probably Sess

Got to admit that last season I was worried Sess was going to tear us open but this year wasn't worried by him one bit. Fletcher on the other hand... if the flanks and AM's can get firing (and on paper you look strong in those areas) there should be goals across your front line.

Maybe Sess and Ben Arfa can't play well at the same time? Should have had someone hobble the frenchman.

At the minute, our weak link are some of the fans who think we should be top 6 and playing like Man Utd.

Playing wise Sess, Johnson and McClean are massively under performing but Fletcher is doing fine. Defensively we are sound and our keeper is just fine imo.

With a small tweak here and there and 3 or 4 players coming to form, we will be just fine.

Has anyone seen a match winning performance from Colback?

That for me is the main thing. He is neat and tidy. He tackles well but he doesn't change games or win matches. He doesn't stamp his authority on a game.

Cattermole can change a game, can drive a game. Man city last year was a point in case. Larrson can do it. Mcclean can do it. Sess' can do it. Gardner can do it.

For me Colback needs to take more risks to become a good player. He is too safe.

That's why we should put him at LB & push Rose up to the wing.
