I looked up a stat today and it stated Maya Yoshida's last tackle was in April 2009..........................
No you see you are just jumping on this bandwagon , its not the best League in terms of quality at all , La Ligaand probably the Bundesilga are better in terms of depth to the League and the quality of football played , is it as entertaining ? Thats subjective , thats not argumentitive at all .
The biggest problem for me with the premier league (except the lack of games) is the media. When we win or do anything decent it's "Super Saints" and "Adkins is a great young manager", but as soon as we lose there is so much doom and gloom. This in turn leads to the fickle/less intelligent fans believing everything they read, and in turn coming on here and ruining every thread. (Mentioning no names.)
I am so unmedia untamed , my wife was a journalist and you learn to be sceptical of whats in there , Adkins is a great manager and one I hope that works but I dont think it will for two main reasons 1) He wont win enough games in time 2) Cortese (and this is one thing I do agree about him) wont allow us to be relegated OR to be seen doing nothing about it , he has copped flak for the transfer window so he will have to get someone out . 7/11 it seems the happier fans are the more easily pleased , you being one of them , I dont need a paper or the internet to know as it stands where our team stands .
Fair enough! I still dislike the media coverage of the premier league in general though. There is so much generalization. I swear, anyone even remotely knowledgeable about football gets shoved to cover the football league.
It's just that you seem to question everyone else's opinion if they don't agree with yours. Literally everything in football is subjective I like entertainment value in football and for that I think the Premier League is head and shoulders above the rest of the world. Don't assume I think the Premier League is best because I'm English. That's a sweeping generalisation. The Bundesliga is a great league and has some decent sides and who can argue that La Liga does not have quality throughout. However there's a reason why these Germans, Spaniards, French, Dutch etc come to play in England and we rarely see English players leave for sunnier climates. You may say it's the money, you may see it's our women, you may even say it's our wonderful countryside. Whatever it is, it makes the Premiership the place to be. Mourinho can't wait to get back here! I enjoy the media sensationalism too. Gives us all something to talk about down the pub.
I think you will find its the money and the lure of London , Eto is on £350,000 playing for Anzhi , he has not gone there for the scenery , in the 80's the money was in Italy and players went there , then in the 90's it was in Spain and now its our turn , it will fold and I shall be a happy man .
Oh boy. Did you look it up from your arm chair? Watching from my seat at the game, he made several including one outstanding tackle when Defoe or Demosey were through in the second half.
The premier league is the fastest league in the world, maybe the most entertaining but not the best for quality.
I could name 5 Leagues without thinking where the Leagues are better for technique , Italy Spain Germany Holland Portugal Their players also have a fair better technique than our players , the pace creates the excitement but also destroys the skill levels .
Fran is right. If we were in the top ten, with a positive goal difference, the Premiership would feel a lot more attractive. I don't disagree that there are negatives about the EPL, but just supposing we had managed to hold onto the lead we had against City away and United at home? I would take that over thrashing Huddersfield any day of the week-good though that thrashing was, mind you!
Yoshida is new to English football, never mind the PL, and has been played out of position twice. I think he looks calm, can pass and defend. No one looked good in the first half. Give the guy a chance, because let's face it, he's what we've got.
