Way I look at it is if Chelsea are simply making this up or if it wasn't racist they would get slaughtered. This makes me think either Chelsea are stupid or something racist was said.

Okay, first off, I went to University because I want to make a decent life for myself, and there's certainly nothing wrong with that. Talking about it the way you do makes you sound like a right twat.

Secondly, racist comments in the heat of the moment, even they don't offend anyone at that particular time, are indicative of a bigger picture of an intolerant, discriminating mindset which is not acceptable in this society. It is that mindset that needs to be eradicated, because it often does cause offence and sometimes even violence.

Glad to see your your laughing face there PTF - otherwise i would be REALLY worried about you !
No i dont mean to indicate that a south american shipyard is a paragon of good conduct at all - just that it is a place in the real world away from professional sport where lots of colours & creeds and languages get the job done with a fair amount of insult between people, that you guys would call racial but although intended to offend in the short term it is not done with hatred and soon forgotten. When i send an email to the commercial manager of one of these shipyards i sign it off ' bastardo ingles' now, as it turns the tables on them. I get called this sort of insult when i am making the yard fitters do a job again if its hasnt been done to properly the first time, etc - but it is not what they say, its how they say it. I find the way the past year or so of so-called racism in english football has been built up in the media, when its sod all in real life - and yet guys like you seem to get hysterical about it. I would like to meet you in a pub and discuss it over a few pints of Brains SA instead of typing all the time ! At least we could then agree to disagree or something, with a hangover to look forward to the next day !

Well sunshine i am no t---, but there again i suppose to an educated chap like you it is fine to call somebody that particular insult is it - unless i happened to be any other colour but white ? I wonder what sort of useful degree you did - you sound like some social worker type who wouldnt know a goods days work if it hit you in the face. What a load of twaddle you write - discriminating mindset , etc, etc.
I am no racist but i live and work in a real world.

You insult me, I insult you. And for the record, I have worked in all sorts of environments. I've done manual work in warehouses, I've worked in retail, I've been a bartender, and various other things. I think it's fair to say I've experienced plenty of environments. And now I have a degree in law, which requires a hell of a lot more work than any of the above, and I'm currently doing volunteer work.

As for the real world, I've seen plenty of racism that couldn't just be shrugged off. I've seen people hurt emotionally and physically. It's not a joke mate.

No insults intended from me so no need to play the childish line - it is just that i + many others get fed up with this ongoing pc rubbish, and being lectured to by people inexperienced in life, and whoopy do you have been worked in a warehouse and been a bar tender - sorry Joe but i am not taken in with your great inexperience in life. But anyway well done in studying for a law degree, and i mean that - just use some common sense when applying what you have learnt please. And i am not joking !

I have to say that things really do sound like sour grapes...........They had two players sent off.......they lost the game no doubt because of that. What better way than to have a complaint against the referee that sent them off.
Oh dear are we really going down this road of heated exchanges being turned into racist comments? Is this the new way of getting back at referee's?????

Not a fan of Brains Dark then? ;)

At least we can both agree that a few pints makes this kind of discussion much more enjoyable!

Conversely this kind of discussion makes drinking less enjoyable. Not exactly a cheery topic.

Would people please stop posting links to the Daily Mail. I'm not a bigot with an unhealthy interest in 15 year old girls, so there is no reason for me to visit that website.

I'm assuming that you have not ever been a social worker to make such an ugly assumption about how hard it is. Different jobs require different skills.

Never tried Brains Dark PTF - but i have had some headaches from Skull Attack in the distant past ! Yes, any discussion on this sort of topic is much better over a couple fo pints.
It may not be a cheery subject Joe, but it is a topic that can polarise opinions and i am sure that if you, PTF and i discussed this + lots of general Saints issues over a few pints in Cardiff then we would all find that we got on fine even if our opinions remained different. Trouble with typing messages like this you cannot gauge the other persons tone of voice which makes all the difference.

If you are a social worker then i apologise if i have upset you. I certainly have never been one and dont think i would last long as one ! This is just a generalisation that people like me use so dont take offence. If a ships crew are discussing something and the most useless occupation in the world comes up then we usually refer to social workers, often wet Guardian-reading lefties who contribute bugger all to a countries economy !

First of all, this new conspiracy that's appearing that everyone is racist is ridiculous. I have no idea if Clattenburg was, if he was, then he deserves all he gets. For those saying that Spannish twat is not racist is just mad, by the letter of definition it is discriminating against someone because of race, not just skin colour. And spanninh twat is obviously aimed at a race.

Clattenburg will be out for a time for his god awful performance, all round. If that was Saints i would livid with a lot of went on. But if this racism case is true, well he'll be out for a long time i suspect!

I think if players are nowadays given carte blanche to harrass referees, then they shouldn't whinge if a ref gives them a mouthful too. Suddenly the buzzword is "racist" and any form of witty banter like "you white git", or "Take that, English ****er" has become demonised. All part of life's rich pageantry surely? If we've had other races living and working in the UK for more than 50 years on a regular basis, and they haven't all fled in terror before the wave of racist hatred, I guess it's because they're OK there. "Hypocrisy" seems to sum it up.

It strikes me that the old "sticks and stones" adage is being ignored here, I am totally against any form of true racism, but football is supposed to be a mans game, with mans language being used in a highly charged situation. Words shouldn't be hurting anyone, some of the reaction is a bit girlyish and just trying to abuse the situation.
