I think he needs until at least Jan, the board will know that changing managers evry 2 minutes is not helpful as every new manger wants new players and we cannot afford that. However Del needs to do some long hard thinking, his inability to sort out the defence is worrying, it was our most obvious failing when he arrived and clearly still is, the current crop of defenders are just not good enough, I know Cunningham is injured, however he is but one of a 4 man defence. Del needs to shift on the following deadwood in Jan iot bring in some better quality than we currently have Lewin Nyatanga Liam Fontaine Neil Kilkenny Brett Pitman and take your pick from Marvin Elliott, Skuse or Jody Morris This would release significant wage pressures and allow Del to concentrate on some good signings, provided of course we are not so far adrift nobody wants to come to us. I still believe we are only 3 signings from being a top 10 side, but the margins are very tight in this Division
I know this sounds strange, but we are not far from being a decent side. We have goals in us, and a settled back 4 would help with the defensive issues.
We need a hard you will not pass midfielder, like Cisse someone who will stop players getting through to the defence they can't hold out everything
Red Robin just noticed this for you mate http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/Bris...er-loan-link/story-17195330-detail/story.html
agree with this three quality players and we will be a very good team, the problem is Del just does not seem to be able to rectify the glaring deficiencies in the side. Someone mentioned is he being restricted by the board,SL has backed him to the hilt so far.
Has he? Cisse refused new contract because not what HE felt was HE worth. Proved we are missing him now though. Buzsacky choose Portsmouth over us. Gerrard- Keogh both went elsewhere. Monk - Ward not interested when enquired but both spoke to McInnes. Cunningham reported 28k if true a ****ing huge bargin. Davies reported 300k Anderson don't know but not a lot I think. Foster 225k I think Pearson free. Heaton free. Baldock the remainder of money owed to us, easier to wipe a debt than pay out. Would Baldock deal been sanctioned if it was 1.5 million up front? As much as I like having SL as owner I do question if he is not backing Del after backing all the previous managers paying out for players that are not good enough. We need a strong dominant CB to go with McManus also 2 midfielders one strong ugly bastard that scares opposition and one to pull the strings. Probably not much change out of 6 million. I doubt we will see this so Del will rotate a bit more trying to sort players out. As for looking disjointed the first 20 minutes not surprising when 1 central defender ill when all the others injured, dont think Del thought on Friday i will have to play Nyatanga with McManus tomorrow night. j.Wilson will be injured along with Carey and Fonts. Also Davies ill so no one could of practiced that on the traing field. Sam Baldock and Albert have not looked like they have for a few games, funny that when ever Albert has a poor run like Fontaine only one person on here has said to drop him.
I'am Alberts biggest fan.....he however had to be dropped to the bench, been very poor of late & I have seen all the last six games..I'am sure he will find his form again!
The problem with Albert ROD is when he is good he is unplayable, but when he is poor he is shocking. Never a in between with him,for the record i thought he deserved to be dropped Saturday, and when he came on he was not at his best. Del does persist in playing players, even when their form does not deserve a first team place, this is one of his downfalls i'm afraid.
You sit behind me so you must of saw that pass to Albert not long after he came on that he just let run under his foot. Yes you are correct with Albert there is no one better when running with the ball to watch but what he does with it frustrates me. But to me at the moment he is just a luxury, I say sell him get a good fee for him and invest it in the team. Also I would like to take one of the managment up into the Dolman and show him what we see as from the touch line your vision is impaired. Coppell and fat Sam from West ham used to always sit up in the stands looking down at players seeing their off the ball movements.
Is it the players or the manager,me I think the manager is to blame. I wonder if any fans who have not voted would like to post their view.
Answer to the question. I believe, unless the board has someone strong in mind that will turn this club around, then Del needs to stay.... Having said that, preperation is the key!
Red Robin. Please see below, the knee jerk comments that you made after the Cardiff game in August. 12 weeks on and you are now completely contradicting yourself. You probably need to understand that the knee jerk comments actually take all the credibility from every football related comment that you make. I particularly liked the comment "We are on a long journey". I actually agree with that, it's just a shame that you don't. "Those silly little pundits, what do they know Boys you need to ammend those predictions, simply put this side will be at the other end of the table come the end. I believed in what I have seen, and this squad is capable of a top six finish. Cardiff are no mugs and will be around top six,but they could not handle a very very good Bristol City side today. Cardiff are a good side, but we were the better side by a considerable distance today. Baldock what a class act, he should get the nod ,he looks dangerous every time he had the ball,Woolford what a revaluation,Carey absolute fantastic,Heaton supurb,Skuse excellent. We are on a long journey, with a excellent management team, and super squad of players. I believe we are seeing the dawn of a new era at Bristol City FC" I don't like making personal insults Red Robin... and I wont.. but your eagerness to replace McInnes is making it very difficult not to think of you as being a complete tool.
The problem being my friend what I saw at the seasons start is completely different to what I am witnessing now. Am I a tool for noticing a complete change of fortunes no I don't think so. What I do see, and again tonight another loss shows that the management team at Bristol City FC is not up to standard. I'm not afraid to admit I clearly have changed my mind regards this management team,if you are happy for us to carry on in the same vane of form fair play,I'm not.
