The situation for the Hernandez goal was exactly the reverse of what happened a few hours earlier in the Merseyside derby. Suarez was not offside, but given as. Hernandez was the same situation as Arteta yesterday, clearly offside. These decisions are though of course for the linesman/assistant to make and not a decision for the referee. Bad decisions are made throughout many games, only a few are as decisive as some. Clattenburg is just another fool who thinks he can referee but can't, and there are many of them in football now, right down to grass roots level. You have to ask yourself, would you be a referee? Most sane people would not. So my point is, you have to be a certain type of twat do do the job in the first place. They do not like football, have never played at a decent level, so do not understand the legitimacy, or not of a tackle. They like the authority that they have when donning the official jersey. They get off on being the boss, as do the F.A. in general. They are running the show for now, but one day fans will ask more of them and when they do not deliver football will change for the better.

I reckon we'll be back stronger to be honest. It was blindingly obvious we were the superior team. Move on from this (with a mighty spanking for Man U on Wednesday night as well).

Considering we played against 14 men with 9 when it mattered and they had to depend on an offside goal and rabid time wasting.

We'll do them royal at their ****hole. <ok>

    Loving that "20 years" caveat.

Pathetic. You, like Sky and all Utd fans are convinced that football only started in 1992.

There is only one most successful British team in Europe SINCE FOOTBALL BEGAN and guess what? It ain't Utd.

    My take: -

Great game up until the Ivanovic sending off (which was correct despite Young doing his usual).

United good value for their lead and great comeback again from us.

Then 2 reds in 5 minutes turns the game again. Torres one was never a sending off as there was contact. However he does go down to easy and has been booked for diving before. Stupid from Torres but still an awful decision. How many players actually get sent off for diving let alone ones in such a high profile game when you've already reduced the team down to 10 men 5 minutes earlier?!?! Frankly un heard of and I was shocked by the ref.

Then to lose to an offside goal. When was the last time United had so many key decisions go against them in a game??

Thats on top of the 2 soft pens at S.B last year, 2 offside goals at O.T and the Evra tackle on Rameires the previous year in the C.L which should have seen red. Seems we are on a very bad run of decisions against United at the moment. Yet Fergie has the cheap to insinuate they've been on the back of bad decisions against us recently!?!? You couldn't make it up.

Spot on mate we said that too but I was incensed when that classless old sprote started remonstrating with the 4th official. His made a art out of harassing the officials to the point where they let things go rather than face the graceless old git. <ok>

It will be interesting to see whether United's 'luck' with decisions diminishes when Fegie retires. My money says it will.

All good and lively contributions here - as for the game I'm not angry at Utd as they played their part in what was promising to be a grandstand finish; no I'll reserve for my venom for the part-time trainspotter who should spend the rest of his days running the line at Hackney Marshes.

How will the bans affect you guys?

Torres will miss just the one match, which is the League Cup game that he probably would've been rested for...

How many games will Ivanovic get? Am I correct in thinking it's only one match even though it was a straight red, because it was for a cynical foul rather than foul play?

EDIT: I would say commiserations but I don't think you really care what an United fan has to say atm. For what it's worth, I think it would've been a cracking, close game if the Torres/Evans tackle and Hernandez offside were not called incorrectly. With 11 vs 10 it could still have gone either way.

Think its a 1 match ban for both - in Ivan's case if he had scythed down Young he would've been looking at a 3 match ban for serious foul play.

I'm expecting a big bounce back from the Chelsea squad (not that you need one, still top of the league).

But Mourinho often cultivated an "us against the world" mentality that really seemed to work for you, and he carried on to use that at Inter Milan and Real Madrid. I think that after this refereeing display and the Terry affair your players are going to be really determined to keep winning and give a big F U to the FA...

EDIT: Terry affair might be ambiguous :bandit: I mean the racism case obviously, and the England captaincy as a result of it...

As you are an Arsenal fan, I would ask you to shut up as soon as possible about home support.

    this

If we are truly honest, we (including United fans) are disappointed that an exciting match has been rather spoilt by the antics of the ref and his team. Having said that, I will also say that once Ivanosevic had been red carded (rightly in most people's opinion) United were favourites. They were getting back into the game even before that first sending off. 11 v/s 10 is no guarantee of a win but in THAT match it would have been quite a feat from Chelsea to keep to a draw. If the offside goal had not been given, there was plenty of time for United to get another. IMO obvioulsy!

The ref lost it completely with that second sending off. Refs must be absolutely certain of NO contact before booking someone for diving. Not every fall is either a dive or a foul. We have had players falling over because they hit the defender and rather the other way round. Phil Neville's fall was a clear dive and booking justified. At the end of the chelsea/United match, Rafael or Valencia (not sure who?) fell into or near the pen area, when he collided with a defender. Not a foul but also not a dive. Yes, Torres could have stayed on his feet and go on and score but there was slight contact and there shouldn't have been a yellow card.

All this talk of conspiracy theories coming from the sad and desperate scousers (who have slid into absolute mediocrity) is nonsense but not surprising. What else have they to look forward to apart from discussing the top teams, looking from the outside? fighting relegation is not fun. They have in Suarez (their best player) a nasty piece of work.

Let's look forward to the rematch this week in the COC. I have got the feeling though that both teams will field reserves.

At half time there was only one winner. I put a bet on Chelsea at the break to win 3-2. But ****enberg changed the game with the sendings off.
If I am a ref i will never believe Ashley Young. I thought he was already falling & his leg was in the air when it touched Ivanovic.

    This <ok>

Your best post for sure since the end of the game. I'm not mad at United. I'm mad at the ref who ruined a great game. I do feel that with 10 men we still could have got a point tbh. We would still have Mata, Hazard and Sturridge on the pitch (as he was meant to come on for Torres) and there would have been a great finish but the ref ruined it. I hope it's a great game on Wednesday I really do but I really hope we win so we can at least have something to smile about after atrocious officiating from the ref yesterday. If you beat us for the second time in 4 days... well... I'll be even more livid!
