So, after this thread being up for most of the day the majority want Hughes out, but has anyone really answered the question - if we don't get Harry, who will it be?

Benitez, LDC or any number of foreign managers. Just not the Megsons, McLeishs and MCCartys of management.

    Tongue firmly in cheek......

Chelsea on high alert as former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola eyes job managing a London club
Pep Guardiola wants his next job to be in the Premier League and has earmarked London as his favoured destination.

The former Barcelona manager is the most sought-after out-of-work manager in European football after quitting the Nou Camp at the end of last season, yet clubs in Manchester, Milan and Munich look set to be frustrated.
“Pep wants to manage in London and he is looking for the right project,” said a source familiar with Guardiola’s situation.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is a long-standing admirer of Guardiola’s and looked into the possibility of making him the club’s manager after the departures of both Carlo Ancelotti and Andre Villas Boas.
Guardiola insisted he needed a season away from management but, when that period comes to an end, Chelsea seem certain to revive efforts to lure him to Stamford Bridge.
Interestingly, Telegraph Sport understands that Guardiola’s representatives have, through intermediaries, also made contact with Arsenal over the possibility of a future vacancy at the Emirates Stadium. But despite the contrast in early-season fortunes between Arsenal and high-flying Chelsea, Arsène Wenger’s position is more secure than Di Matteo’s.
Wenger also remains under contract until the end of next season but Stan Kroenke retains complete faith in his stewardship of the club and the offer of a contract extension is highly likely.
The news that the 41 year-old has set his sights on the capital rather than either of the Manchester clubs might come as a blow to the decision makers at the Etihad Stadium and Old Trafford.
Manchester United’s manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, the chief executive, David Gill, and a member of the Glazer family reportedly met Guardiola in New York during the summer.
For Guardiola, who has spent part of year off in New York, London’s size and the anonymity that affords is also an attraction after the intensity of his four years in management in Spain’s second city.

... Interesting use of the project as that seems to be the favoured word at Loftus Road.

Hughes said in his post game interview that he decided to play 4-4-2 to try to get at their dodgy defence!!
Hoilett never does the job of filling in "the hole" when he plays off Zamora, so it was never even a genuine 4-4-1-1.

I have always felt that if we are going to play 4-4-1-1 then Adel has to be the man to link play and float behind the striker.

    IMO
Hughes has to stay and build it ... If this lot on here had half a brain they would see the progress we are making and that doesn't mean our league position . It's taking a lot longer I have to say but to smash it up is daft let it run it's course. I am sure we will rise

"Alan Curbishley, Ian Holloway, Mick McCarthy, Raphael Benitez, etc. Are any of these really any better than Hughes?"

    Honestly?

    McCarthy excepted most definitely yes.

It was a 4411, it was easy to see watching on TV. Hoilett was never on the defenders shoulder like cisse would have been, maybe even 5 yards past him every time.

Hughes very nearly pulled off a great performance yesterday IMO I think we absorbed pressure well. We don't have anything to show for this progress of course but we are growing very well.

How people can pick on what was a good team performance is puzzling we had a great shape throughout and lost to a goal scored that was offside but never the less cost us a point

Can't really comment on yesterday's game, had a gut full of Guinness at a Gooner boozer called the Coronet on the Holloway Road before the game and semi dozed through most of it in the comfy seats and near silence of the Emirates. £360m on a stadium still doesn't get you easy and quick access to the gents though. Nice day out all in all, from what I saw we're on track, need some luck.

i have always been behind our managers and back ed them, but sadly I'm giving him 1 more game

He has to beat Reading or go IMHO

Not sure who is the best replacement but we could put a monkey in charge and lose, so it doesnt make any diffrence.!

I'd go a step further and say we need to beat soton and put in good performances in both matches. I can imagine us picking up wins with scratchy performances, wrong tactics and personnel. I don't want him stumbling on the right formula, we need to be convincing.

Fair enough, but I'd be happy if he "stumbled" us into Europe this season !!
