As ever in games like this the media like to concentrate on how poorly City played rather than the reason why they played poorly ie Swansea City not allowing us to play. I thought Laudrup set them up perfectly with a great gameplan to stifle the passing game which centres around yaya toure when Silva isnt there,which for long periods rendered him anonymous. First half was largely a dull affair where Vorm was a spectator as the movement of the Swansea midfield caused more problems as the half wore on looking to thread Michu through and but for Hart would've gone to the interval in front. Second half Mancini switched Kolorov for Balotelli and we were much more threatening and looked far more likely to take the lead but it took a great shot from Tevez to do so beating the unfortunate Vorm who injured himself in trying to save it.From then on it was just a question of whether we could hold on which we managed to do,at times through luck rather than judgement . On the whole a point apiece would've been fair but a wins a win and keeps us in contention at the top.Swansea were bright,inventive and vibrant who should take great heart from taking the game to the champions rather than standing off in awe as so many in the unbeaten run of 34 home games have done.Played like a top 6 team and shouldn't finish too far off it
I think thats a fair assesment mate, this game was more about our performance than the result and the performance was great, we are still a work in progress but laudrup got things spot on today, under rodgers we would have passed the ball for the sake of it and city just would have closed it down , today we mixed it up nicely and i thought we dominated long periods of the game. Tevez goal was the reason why you won,it was a superb strike and goes to prove that you get what you pay for most of the time!! no complaints from us jacks,this was a bonus game for us but it was nice to see us take on the champions in their backyard and give them a hard time, there is work needed at city though if you are to retain the title
There is plenty of work to do but we've not really played well in any game this season but sit 1 point off the top unbeaten,could be much worse. Where do you think Swansea will finish,could easily be top 8 for me
I have to agree I look below us and think we can beat 8 out of the 10 comfortably , I really feel we can kick on and go no lower than 12 th this season!
No shame lossing to city they had to work hard for they win,it could have been 1 0 to us at half time easy exept for they goalie. how do you lads think we will go with out Vorm , top 8 would be good .
Fair assesment there mate. Think we were the more deserving of the 3 points, BUT you are the reigning champions for a reason. You have players that can turn it on at a single turn. No complaints from me, proud of our boys and we will move on.
Yup on to next losers , by the way has anyone else picked up on the fact no one, Citeh side, wanted to discuss the games first half
swans were superb and we could have even won if we had a little bit of lady luck, we certainly deserved a point but fair play to man city and treves fantastic strike.....I have come away from watching us scrape a win feeling worse that i did losing 1-0 to the champions. I hope vorm recovers quick but we have a good back up keeper that will do well so im not worried on that score......
Paul very gracious of you to post as such, cheers mate, hope we get some luck with performances like that deserve, draw for me would have been the fairer result, but at the end of the day, we were playing you on your patch, all the best for the rest of the season, make sure though that Manure don't get the title, otherwise it get's unbearable living with my 19 year old son! ..............
