I am afraid on this one, With WCFields not happy with Ferdinand, and Smalling.not quite fit, I can see Man U putting in a New Year bid for BH,but i hope not.
I agree. As Ronnie has said he has proved loyal in the past but this is most likely going to be his last opportunity stepping up to a bigger club. UTD do have issues in defence however I can’t see Hangeland being anything but a stop gap or backup for them. The problem is when teams like UTD mention an interest it turns players heads. He’ll be almost 32 by the end of the season so if he wants to make a move like this it’s his last opportunity. Unfortunately due to his contract expiring at the end of the season we would get very little for him in January. Certainly not enough to replace him. I hope he stays but fear he won’t
Hi RonnieRooke (great username, by the way), welcome aboard. I hope someone answers your question on the picture, as I've never known how to do one! I think you're right about Hangeland, and I genuinely don't believe that he's going to be lured by the bigger brighter lights - if it was going to happen, I suspect it would have done by now. I remember an interview with him where he said that he has never seen the point in moving clubs when you're happy and settled somewhere. I think the only way he'll go is if he isn't happy with the terms the club offers him, not because he wants to step up to Champions League or something like that. A WUM is a wind-up merchant, by the way.
The only reason I can see United going for Hangeland in January is a short term signing to team up with Smalling again if he is fit. Obviously he'd be a cheap quick fix, but would he still be in the United first team next season when they'd probably go out and get a younger version. Maybe we can do a swap for Rio Ferdinand now Sir Alex has the hump against him.
Hi Ronnie Welcome. Bidley's the man to help on avatar's. Yeah, WUM's are people who come over here trying to wind us up or disrupt the discussion in a Thread by chucking in something irrelevant. Mostly (almost exclusively) it's QPR fans which is why we don't post comments like this one It's not just because it encourages unwanted WUM's, the main reason is we're not interested in QPR. We don't have a Mod but do have a Board Rule that members only post Threads about Fulham things. If someone wants to post something not-Fulham related, the usual rule is to place it in the "McBride" sticky at the top of the forum. Also, we find the discussions are better when Thread subjects are not duplicated and if posts are kept to relevant Threads. Sorry if that sounds negative - it's only meant to help you enjoy the forum as much as we all do. Anyway, welcome again and look forward to seeing loads of your posts.
Welcome mate. Top right of the page, click on 'Control panel'. In the left side panel you'll see two options a little way down saying 'Edit profile picture' and 'Edit avatar'. Your profile picture is the one people see when they view your profile, the avatar is the one that comes up under your name when you post (no idea why they're separate). Hope that helps!
Welcome Ronnie - Good to see an old name here. I was going to answer both questions, but my friends on here have already dine so. Hopefully we are a bit different, with no need for a Moderator. As said in the past - This place is a bit like having a pint down the pubs with your mates. C O Y W
Thanks for all your hospitality, and sorry to cottager58 for bringing up QPR, now i know better (haha) also managed to get a photo and indeed a signature working so thank you Bidley
Martin Jol,made a statement this evening. " we have made no further progress on extending Brede Hangalands contract, although we have offered him an extended deal with greatly improved payments. So at this point in time his future with us hangs in the balance.". If Brede does go who as a replacement. My choice SAMBA ~ DAWSON.
We'll never get Samba, he's on the big bucks at Anzhi. Dawson would be decent if he stays fit. We could do with more english players to be honest.
This seems to be our old friends Goal.com pushing the Hangeland story around and getting it picked up by others. Jol is also reported as saying, "I don't know where the story that our star players are going is coming from. We always want to improve and don't tell anybody else, but I believe that's what we did in the transfer window". At the same time he confirmed that the contract position with Berbatov, Petric, Rodellaga and Riether is 'healthy' which is all good news. http://www.independent.ie/breaking-news/sport/brede-fulhams-only-departure-doubt-3275858.html If the Club have made Hangeland a decent offer, I don't see what more they can do at this stage. If he does go, there is always Senderos but I would expect us to re-open the talks with Dougllas of Twente. In fact we might well do that regardless - Hangeland isn't getting any younger.
Cottager agree about Bredes age,but the greatest thing about him is he stays very fit, like Demps did, Senderos is AJs twin, in both appearance and injuries, plus when he defends in our area he looks like a penalty waiting to happen. Dans expierence with Yeovil may put him in the frame next season.
If we've offered him more money and security of a contract extension I don't see what the problem is? If he's delaying now after being told this is what we can do then its time to ship him out. I realise things aren't quite as black and white all the time but he knows the wage structure at the club, what's his problem? No one is bigger than the club. Also his form this season has been average. We should also think about giving Senderos the Spanish Archer too. Ooh I'm feeling ruthless this morning.
Obviously, I hope Brede stays (see my elite team, below). The club seem to have done everything, but bigger clubs will always be attractive, so que-sera-sera. I thought he was going to get one of his headed goals from corners last week - But maybe today would be good. C O Y W
Ruthless, but necessary Craving. You can also add Halliche to that list, if he's in fact still here. I like 58's suggestion of going back in for Douglas, cracking player. Dawson, for me, is too injury prone, and would probably be on higher wages than we are willing to pay.
Glad to say Bandit, that Haiiche's contract was terminated "by mutual consent" in the summer and he's now with some Portuguese club. I was slightly tongue in cheek about Senderos and agree with both rosc and Craving. Also with you about Dawson - wasn't there a problem recently about him not being able to agree personal terms with a club in SW12 ? There was also a rumour a few days ago that Southampton were considering a £7.5m bid for him !!
I thought it was due to a failed medical? I couldn't possibly imagine QPR having trouble with wages! Maybe Dawson fancied being Spurs 4th choice CB rather than be put through the paces among QPR's makeshift defence.
Dawson rejected QPR after Spurs accepted their bid in the summer. It may have been down to wages but I know it was Dawsons choice. I don't think Senderos is good enough either not that he is ever fit enough to play anyway.
Posted on this before- I don't think Hangelaand would be a terrible loss, although I don't want to see him go. There are plenty of other options out there and he is prone to making mistake. He's looked a bit exposed at times this season. If he has held his value I would say take the money and re-invest in one proven replacement and then spend a bit on a young prospect. I think he has peaked.
