    http://www.nufcblog.com/2012/10/28/pardew-has-funds-available-to-replace-demba-ba-in-january/?

t’s hardly surprising that we will be linked with a number of strikers from now until January, because there’s some chance that Demba Ba will leave Newcastle in that next transfer window, if another club comes in and meets the £7M release clause in his contract, and they can also meet Ba’s wage demands.

And it’s the second of those that may put clubs off, and it was interesting that no club was able to do that in the two months during the summer, when Ba’s release clause was active.

So we expect Graham Carr to be out scouting strikers, just in case Ba does leave, and the news today in the Mirror is that Newcastle manager Alan Pardew will have funds to spend if Ba does leave the Magpies, and Newcastle will not allow themselves to be short of a striker as we were after we sold Andy Carroll to Liverpool almost two years ago.

A Newcastle source had this to say in the Mirror:

“Derek Llambias was pointing out that Newcastle will continue to be prudent both in terms of fees and wages. They won’t pay more than a player is worth.”

“But if any of the club’s top players leave and that includes Ba, there are funds available to Alan Pardew to replace them.” “There is a Plan B in place. What happened after Andy Carroll left nearly two years ago won’t happen again.”

Liverpool is one club who need a striker in January, after they lost Andy Carroll on loan to West Ham, and Fabio Borini is now out with a broken foot for months, but there’s news today that Liverpool may try to get Didier Drogba on loan from his Chinese club.

However, the Andy Carroll deal has hurt the relationships between the two clubs, and it’s unlikely that Liverpool will want Ba in January, but we’ll know that soon enough.

Liverpool’s Chief Scout Alan Harper has watched Ba several times this season, but whether they will be able to match his wage demands, we have our doubts.

Newcastle have tried to get the Senegal striker on a new deal on Tyneside, but they will not meet his wage demands of about £65K/week, which is what captain Fabricio Coloccini is getting.

But Ba may take the strategy that he’ll leave Newcastle only for massive wages elsewhere, but with today’s climate and the Financial Fair Play rules kicking in, he may find it difficult to get a club to give him a better deal than he can get on Tyneside.

The first reaction I had was "**** you" when I saw the title. You're talking to us about funds? We had 35 million off the dippers and that hasn't even been spent.

But the title is misleading...Nothing much wrong with what he said, but I am hoping that the board REALLY go out and get a centre half and a fullback. I can understand if they do not wish to publicly state this, but I really want them to go and get those since we really need them.

Also, the dippers in for our strikers again? What's new?

Forget that ****, we need a center back and a fullback!!

When they say Pards will be given funds, I hope it's a good 5-6m each for a CB and a fullback, then around 10m for a striker to replace Ba!

I don't understand this £7m clause. Does that mean we have to sell him for £7m, or that's where the bidding starts?

I expect we'll have plenty of options should he decide to leave. I think that is unlikely to be honest as he seems very happy and I think when you've had a nomadic football career like his, you get to a stage where you want some continuity in life. We'll see but I expect there are plenty of funds available if needed, we just don't buy for buying's sake.

We clearly need a centre back as Colo is in his 30's so we can only put so much on his plate and Saylor is injury prone. I understand them taking a risk at the start of the season but Saylor has already missed games. I'd still like a left back option too although Fergie is ok there. Right back wise I think we are fine. Simpson has improved again and shown what a good full back he is. Santon looks a better player on that side and Raylor/Perch are good there too. I'd forget Debuchy and look for a younger left back to develop.

Apparently we've been to see quite a few strikers across Europe. Ba is the easiest for the media to link, in England anyway.

The strongest rumours surround Ba and Walcott, much like in the summer.

Ba would be a good addition for us... and he'd cover his fee on shirt sales easily, we've not had a decent African player in a while.

We cant sell Ba if you ask me we wouldn't get a better player for the money.

If we sell him I'd expect we would only get 3-4 million of it.

IF we sold him it'd be for at leasat 7 million. That's the least of my worries though. We can't sell Ba because he's our best option up front. Cisse is finding it hard to adjust now that he is being keyed upon since defenders now know how dangerous he is compared to last season he was an unknown entity. Ba is a great goalscorer and I don't need to say more about it. With Cisse out of form, Shola unlikely to be a consistent scorer, we can really only look to Ba. Losing him in the window would be disastrous whether we bring someone in or not.

Let's wait and see what actually happens if Ba does go. I don't trust a single word that comes from Llambias, and neither should anyone else.

    exactly this !!!

we will not get anyone better thats for sure

Just give him 65 k a week and tell shola to **** off and that will make up for the extra wages.

selling him is unthinkable if you ask me!! we got this predator for nothing man. sell some other usless ****s like Ameobi or Gosling, Obertan etc. It would be like finding a glass of water in the desert and selling it to an unwanted companion.

For anyone who doesn't understand. If a club offers 7m, it all comes down to Ba's decision to leave or not. We cannot decide the price, all we can do is try t convince Ba.

If it's a bigger club in a champions league position, offering him 70k a week, I don't see how he can refuse, despite loving Newcastle.

I wont blame him if a club like Chelsea came in for him, and he left. If he leaves us for a side like Liverpool, I'd never forgive him.

So.... what happens if there's a few clubs bidding for him? £7m for him is a pittance.

It doesn't matter who bids for him. If someone bids 7m, it is then up to him to decide whether he leaves or not.

You must not have played championship manager /football manager before?

In clauses like this, what normally happens is that whoever offers the 7m will have their offers accepted. After that it's up to the player striking a deal with the pursuing clubs, and the player has a right to choose among those offers. So with a clause, there isn't going to be a bidding war
