Dismal 1st. Great 2nd. Mayuka was a huge turning point in our attack. But we cannot play well for 90 minutes. First Half = 0 points
poor first half, good second half, still unsure over Adkins, he obviously told them somehting at half time that they responded too, could of been to do with his job. Lambert surprisingly poor.
I didn't expect a win, but I wanted spirit and a reasonable show. Second half we provided that, losing 2-1 to Spurs is not a bad result surely? First half was absolutely abysmal, yes. But to lose 2-1 to Spurs after 90, I can stomach.
Well I think that puts paid to the "Adkins has lost the dressing room" stuff. Impressive play in the second half and had a lot of chances to get something from the game in the end. Obviously it helped that spurs sat back but I still feel we'd have been better served playing more defensively in the first half, those two goals gave us a mountain to climb. Oh well, another good showing in the end, was impressed by Mayuka and Rodriguez (Lambert less so, leave him out next game? ), onwards and upwards.
sandro's block was legendary. We were the better side second half and can take a lot of confidence from that which is what we needed. Only gripe about the second half was lambert too wide.
We certainly showed a lot more than Reading, when they played Spurs and lost 3-0 or 3-1, can't remember. I can stomach this loss, but we MUST beat Swansea in our next home match.
I would say that our first choice eleven should be (when all fit): Gazzaniga; Clyne, Fonte, Yoshida, Fox; Davis, Schneiderlin; Mayuka, Ramirez, Lallana; Lambert.
Because its in my view best if we are all open and honest , he will go if results dont improve thats obvious , the thing will be 99.9% will be on his back when goes as opposed to before , I am honest saying he should have November no more than that , and Cortese has to come and explain why our team did not get a proper refit in the summer as our team is not worthy of a Premiership place , i thought when this takeover happened we were told to look and reach for the stars , thats is plainly obvious it has not happened .
Story of our season at home really. Wigan - decent/good first half, **** second Man Utd - good both halves Villa - **** first half, great second Fulham - good first half, **** second Spurs - **** first half, great second Begs the question why in most games we can't play well in both halves, when we do start playing well we definitely have enough to trouble the opposition, whoever it may be. In this league you need to be on your game for 90 mins other wise you will lose more often than not.
I would still stick with Boruc but other than that agree. If Ramirez was on the pitch today we would not have lost. He will be a huge player when he returns.
For most yes but that defence is not good enough , so it may be our strongest but it still wont cut the mustard by a long way .
Fair enough, big of you to say that. Maybe try and bite your lip next time you feel like coming out with something like that
Indeed. And while I'm not expecting us to walk away with a win at West Brom, we need a good performance.
I keep saying it, it is confidence! Our players heads go down very easily. We have a very young squad, and inconsistency is always an issue for young players
Spirited finish from the team. However, Adkins seemed to get the tactics wrong in the first half and we paid for it in the end. Appreciate that Adkins, like the players, is on a steep learning curve - but he has to start getting it right from the start (and I do hope he does) and not for us to be left chasing the game.
