Yet another awful decision from a linesman right at the end of the Everton v Liverpool game. Suarez was so clearly NOT offside and Liverpool were robbed of 2 points. The standard of officiating is really very poor, but linesmen in particular seem just crap!
Ive been forced to be a lino and ref, being a ref is hard and I made mistakes. however being a lino is a piece of piss and I never got a thing wrong. Its such and easy job to do as 99% of the time they just have to look for offisides and throw ins. They hardly ever flag for something the ref didnt see.
Agreed Col! I'd really favour cricket style referrals. Max one each half per team and you can refer any goal incident. Ie check if it crossed the kind or was offside / onside in the build up? Would take seconds, add to excitement and be limited in use as if the team weren't sure then wouldn't refer as they only get one. Simples!
Ive said that too or just automatically review goals, pens and red cards, things that change games. Tennis, cricket, rugby, US football, ice hockey all have various uses to it but football is so far behind, primarily because of the old men like blatter in charge refuse any progress in the sport.
Rugby uses a referral system for each try where the ref asks the video ref "Is there any reason I should disallow this try?" Too simple for our multi-million pound game isn't it?...
The funny thing is FIFA wanted it to be instant and the crowd must not know, one of the best bits about cricket or ice hockey is the suspense and then seeing the replay/hawkeye of the incident.
