The reverse was true for us last year. My concern is that there's always a red card waiting to happen in the derby just wonder who will get it...

Gotta bring this topic up again with today's game. Winning 1-0 still, but won't be surprised if we concede in the last 10 minutes. We are getting walked through...by reading!

  3. I find it strange. I thought Wisdom, Skrtel, Agger and Johnson all looked good today, they all look strong and I don't believe any of them had a problem in their individual duels. However, as a unit there is definitely something amiss. Surely it can't just be a case of no Lucas...?

    I hope it is!

One of Brendans tactics was to win the ball back in 7 seconds I believed? It feels more like lets hope it comes back to us in 7 minutes.

Yep, looking a bit more secure, tough tests coming up though.

I think it really is Lucas who we miss. At the moment we play in the league:

    Gerrard------Allen/Sahin
    -------Sahin/Shelvey

and obviously variations of that. None of these players are defensive first of all, but Sahin can be lazy in the sitting two midfielders as is gerrard and Allen doesnt have much presence. Where as with Lucas, we can play:

    -------Lucas
    Gerrard------Allen

With Sahin and Shelvey to add or replace one of the front two. Lucas by himself will do a better job than two of our midfielders do atm, but not only that, it also gives us two attacking midfielders instead of one, so hopefully more goals will come too!

  7. We're definitely not doing the seven seconds thing. Every now and again a player will lead the charge (usually its Suarez, Henderson is good for this, obviously Lucas too) but then others don't back that player up. It won't happen until all players want to do it <ok>

And yet you don't explain how Reina got those three Golden Gloves. Nothing to do with that awful zonal market, obviously. Probably Cech and VDS felt sorry for him so let him get three when they only had one each.

You should desist repeating silly statements you heard a media muppet spout. You are probably as unaware as them that Rafa had different zonal setups depending on the situation - inswinging or outswinging corner, etc - or that he once displayed to a bunch of media muppets with data that there's little diffeence between M2M and zonal so it comes down to a manager's preference.

Note: "manager's preference" does not mean what Andy Gray thinks it means, i.e. Andy Gray's preference.

It should also be noted that M2M leaks goals every week without a dissection of its capabilities and knowing who to blame does not mean the goal doesn't count, nor that the defender to blame will never make a mistake again.

Thought this would be appropriate again after the first half today. Every chance the chavs have had is solely because of poor defending. Oh and Webb giving them the ball.

Well, i'll continue to bump considering our consistent goals conceded.

  14. Still conceded two less (in league games) than the league leaders, we just don't score anywhere near as many <laugh>

Can't remember who made the comment earlier on, but it is true: As individuals I have no problem with a back four of Johnson Skrtel, Aggar and Enrique. As a unit, however, I find myself ****ting bricks every time the opposition breaks away in our half. This evening was no different. We have a problem, Houston... GKRK.

That's a very good point, good players as individuals don't necessarily make a great back four. With that said, I don't think our midfield is offering us enough protection

Teams just bypass our midfield and run at us. We are especially made for counter attacking, which I don't get, as there is a lack of numbers in the box.

  18. Teams bypass our midfield because we only have three of them. Usually one of them has pushed forward and is out of position (can't be bothered to put the effort in to gey back. No prize for guessing who I'm talking about) and one of the remaining two has made the bad pass to give the opposition possession!
