The Newcastle game on 22.12.12 takes us to half way through the season. Here are the fixtures and my predictions / what we need to have a sensible chance of survival. Reading H 3 Stoke A 1 Soton H 3 Man U A 0 S'land A 1 Villa H 3 Wigan A 1 Fulham H 1 Newcastle A 0 13 + 3 would give us 16 points half way through the season. As you can see, I've only allowed 2 losses and 3 wins (for a team that has not won at all yet). Each and every games is a must win. It is possible it may be one of those low points years but I'm afraid that the facts are that we are NOW in deep trouble. I've maintained that Hughes should be given til Christmas. I stand by that but the enormity of the task may be too much for this QPR team in this season, I fear.
A very interesting post and one which is very worrying. We can be under no illusion that we will get out of this hole.
My error. Counted the cup games so half way is after Albion and Liverpool, both at home. Perhaps 1 or 2 more points so half way total ?? 17 or 18. Apologies.
Col, there is always the chance that our form WILL improve. Whether that is because MH goes or the famous gelling finally occurs or even SWP either attains skill or breaks a leg! Barring any of that, I fear you may be right. I can swallow that if the plan is to do a West Brom but not if we do another 15 yrs out of the top flight. Or worse!
If we get the 13 points you highlight we'll still only be on 16 points!! Relegation battle all season long mate!
Interesting view on things rtid...I read your predictions and in my head they made complete sense, but then that isn't how it has worked this year so far. We would have expected something from Swansea and we got thumped, same from West Ham at loftus road and we lost, and I know it was the league cup but we've already lost to Reading once as well. Love your optimism, but I am losing that personality trait right now. Hope I am proved wrong.
Condfidence is draining away and we dont have a manager to motivate the players....bad combo!. Hughes just looks lost, grumpy, moaning, arms crossed or in his pockets for the whole game.Ive got a bad feeling about this year and the implications of going down(if we do!). I think we need the Warnock effect from a manger(when Warnock first came in)
Perhaps we will go on another home game win stormer like we did last season, pick up the odd point away and once again get out of jail at the death?
I think those results are overly optimistic and we are still 5 points short of getting half the points needed for surviving. Give Hughes another month and we will have to play euro qualy form to stay up after we sack him then.
Our only hope is, like last season, that there will be three other clubs as shyte as we are, and, at the moment, that doesn't look likely...
Reading, Saints and Norwich are doing their best to help. Were ok if we change now, leave it 4-8 weeks and its too late.
All three of those are capable of scoring, we are totally clueless at present. I think Reading will really think they can take us next week...
In their shoes, I would too since they already proved they can take us in the League Cup when we fielded a strong team.
Saints are averaging conceding 3 goals a game and 4 goals a game away from home, we have to beat them comfortably by 2 or 3 clear goals. Someone on Fantasy Island say he must get 7 points from Everton/Reading/Saints so if thats true, hes gone if we dont beat both of the promoted sides. I would rather draw and get rid of him than win against Reading.
I've had a bottle of merlot now to soften the **** feelings, but I've got to say....I think we're going down!!
