I know we are not promoted just yet, but I thought I would ask if anyone would miss L1. I for one have enjoyed it for these reasons and will have fond memories. 1. Teams with genuine fans and not the prawn sandwich brigade. 2. Its nice to actually think we have a chance of winning rather than the negative thoughts I used to have before every game. 3. Its alot easier to get a ticket and get to a game home or away. 4. Everybody has a genuine chance of beating anybody else. It feels abit like a gf that your happy with, but you know it just isn't the real deal. So although I will miss her its time to move on to something better - hopefully!
I wont miss being in league one, but I will miss that winning feeling. It's been delightful watching us play well and win matches; being positive both going into matches and coming out of matches.
I have enjoyed league 1 but I don't think I'll miss it too much. Hopefully we can continue the winning mentality into the championship and our support will probably have become better for the experience in league 1.
"1. Teams with genuine fans and not the prawn sandwich brigade." Generalising there. Nice one, you earn my respect If we go up I will not miss League 1.
I've enjoyed it being the lower leagues. But there comes a time where we have to push forward as a club and look towards the future! Very proud Saints fan here! COYR!
Thanks SaintsFTW for those kind words LOL! Don't U get annoyed that certain people feel the urge to support successful teams because they are sucessful rather than because they are there local team. I believe that the media cultivate this by constantly banging on about premiership teams and almost forgetting League 1, 2 or championship . I think Sky have almost ruined the game, but I will be glad to be promoted but will have very fond memories of our days in L1,
Deary me how this thread will **** me off if we somehow screw up and lose at Plymouth and against Walsall with Hudds winning.
I will miss the win ratio and the expectation that we will score a couple of goals at least at home. Or maybe I won't if we do a Norwich.
although its nice to be winning, i just hate the amount of teams that park the bus, atleast people will be more attacking if we go up
In fact if I am not being a little premature with my thoughts. I can't wait to put the smug looks far from the Pompey brigade who prattle on about our last two meetings. Soon we will be able to talk about our wins and see how well they like it. I have enjoyed watching the club climb from the brink and start playing football which is both pleasing to the eye at times, and regaining the faith that we can win games on a regular basis.
I will always appreciate league one for what it has done for us. I have to think back a long time to remember a time when the club felt so together. I won't miss it but have enjoyed it
I have come to the conclusion that there are about ten Division 1 sides that are better than the equivalent number in the Championship, the margin simply isn't that great, the bonus of playing in the Division One is the ability to see some different clubs, but now that we have the chance, I hope we don't blow it as there are some juicy looking games available in the Championship next year. The real drawback is the fact that is it going to cost more and I will struggle to find enough to pay for it. We should start the season with good gates, but if the results don't go our way it would soon drop back to the faithful crowds that always turn up. I suspect Brighton are in for a culture shock and if they don't invest in some Championship quality players, they may struggle, what they have, is a workmanlike squad that proved capable of getting them up, these may not cut the mustard in the higher league. A lot of our own squad are already capable, but not all of them.
I think I will miss L1 especially the relaxed & generally friendly nature of the away games Being a "remote" Saints fan up here in Northamptonshire I go to as many away games as home (generally closer) and must say they are generally a pleasure to attend unlike the old days in the prem when I stopped going to away games as generally thought I was only a small step away from a scrap and I am getting too old for a punch up. Dark Lord
League one has been fun and it has strengthened the love my youngest kids have for the club. Winning does help train their thoughts with little tv coverage available. Won't miss the extra early games with the JPT no longer in our thoughts. All we have to do now is win a game tomorrow to let us begin in earnest our discussions about season 2011/12.
The Championship is the new black. A good balance of competitiveness and quality but still retaining a proximity to the real world that lacks in the PL. L1 is nice and friendly, but some of the football rather stinks.
