Four less games, 3 less points, 4 less goals. Non too shabby. Just shows that we are NOT a one man team and all that 'how will Newcastle cope with life after Carroll' crap was just bollocks and writing us off immediately!

Great stats there AB, real interesting!

Plus the overall wage bill has gone down a chunk those 15 games too!!
OK, Ireland has probably cost a few quid for the 1 1/2 appearances he's
managed and if Kuqi is paid on match time, he's possibly up to a 100 quid?
Can't help feeling we'd have seen off some games we've drawn/lost if Judas
    had stayed with us though.

I made the point earlier that we've done very well with Best, Ameobi and Lovenkrands. I find it ridiculous that people are suggesting they should be sold in the summer, and the lack of gratitude shown is appalling. I want someone to come in to replace Carroll, but the other three are great squad players. We also have Ben Arfa back next season. If we get decent replacements for Carroll and Enrique, plus a new centre half, maybe one or two others and keep hold of the rest of our key players we could be set for a good season next year.

    That's a lot of ifs though. :emoticon-0107-sweat

Just hope AC has a bad back tomorrow with carrying all that cash around with him and doesn't perform well.

I'd really, really love to beat the bin dippers.

I really hope he doesn't play. In an ideal world he'd play terribly and we'd win. But this isn't an ideal world, it's a ****hole (Merseyside), and if he plays he'll score, and no doubt be a right **** about it like Duff was.

Got a taxi coming at 5:45 to get me to the coach, better head for the hills or I'll be falling asleep at the game.

I've preferred our overall style of football since Carroll left as well. We play it on the deck more.

If we get 4 points from the last 4 games then our record will actually be better without Carroll. Useless ****er.

I think Best is the Best out of a average bunch of strikers(That includes the likes of Loverkrands, Ameobi, Kuqi and a inexperienced yet potentially exciting Ranger). He deserves more credit than he's being given. 6 goals in 11 games is very good for a so-called ''Championship striker''. I'll like to see him as 3rd choice/cover/competition for 1/2 strikers who will be the main man upfront(Ba/Gamiero/Sow are the most popular names being touted & wanted by most on here).

In order of importance/ability.. this would be my personal strikeforce for next season :

1 ST - The star striker. It could be a nippy, fast, skillful and a good finisher sort of striker(Gamiero), a strong, quick and powerful target man(Ba) or a goalscoring one hit French wonder(Sow). Depends on the formation and style of football Pardew wants to have for next season.
2 ST - Leon Best/Other. If we are going to play with a formation or system which includes only 1 striker(it has to be a GOOD one though.. not Ameobi!!!) then I don't think we'll need 2 strikers. BUT if we are planning on playing a system/formation with two strikers then we'll need 2 quality strikers. I think Pardew will go for the more fluid and balanced 4231 if he wants Ben Arfa playing in a ''free attacking mid role''. Therefore I'll be happy enough with Best as a 2nd choice striker.
3 ST - Ameobi or Loverkrands. One has to go IMO though. Not sure who I'll pick though. Both would do very well for most Championship teams but simply don't cut it at this level anymore at a consistent basis. I guess either one of them will be OK as cover/squad players. Ameobi is inconsistent, injury-prone but on his day he can be good(not many though) and he can play the ''target man'' role very well(sometimes). Meanwhile Lovenkrands offers pace, mobility and work-rate but lacks that finishing ability to be a top striker in the PL, simply not clinical enough and as Ameobi he's quite inconsistent at this level. I don't know which too keep if I'm honest. Both are Championship standard regardless.
    4 ST - Airey/Young Ameobi/Vuckic(AM but can cover ST )?

I hope Ranger goes on loan to a decent Championship team were he'll get loads of games to shine(Doncaster/Brighton spring to mind). Kuqi.. obviously released.

So in conclusion. It depends on the style of football Pardew wants to play(IMO) which will determine how many strikers we get. 442 - 2 strikers needed. 451/4231/4411/etc... then 1 QUALITY striker should see us through with Best, Ameobi & Airey/Vuckic/Young Ameobi acting as cover.

Am I right in thinking Best had a better goal-game ratio too?
Gutted that Best got injured really, he came out of absolutely nowhere in January to be our best striker and was almost like a new signing in that respect. If we'd had him playing every game since West Ham I honestly think he'd be looking at his 10th goal by now. I say keep and use him as a sub next season.
I've given up on Shola really, he clearly can't be arsed to even run. Just put him away somewhere in a cupboard or something. Lovenkrands only seems to play his best against the lower teams which is a shame because he was class for us last season and on his day he's deadly, but his day just doesnt come all that often.

So 1.27 points/game and 1.33 goals/game without him, 1.16 points/game and 1.26 goals/game with him. I wonder how much of that difference is due to Pardew as he gets/got more to grips with the team.

We need to keep Shola in a cage and taunt him with pictures of mackems, then we might increase his mackem-slaying skills even more. Could even try to increase his effectiveness against other teams using this method. For each team he destroys he gets a new hat.

With Best: 10 games, 14 points (1.4 per game) and 16 goals (1.6 per game).

Without Best: 24 games, 27 points (1.13 per game) and 33 goals (1.38 per game).

A fair difference. Although, I meant the games between Carroll leaving and Best's injury V Games after Best's injury.
